Dear All

Hello

Dear Nicky.......I have got the video of "The Great Escape" but not sky!
Great film, though!

Imagine when the analogue signal is turned off! Chaos and all that money for new TV equipment, etc.

A peaceful and happy new year to fellow film buffs.

Take care

Very best wishes
xx

OH is currently watching Bedtime Stories from 2008, with Adam Sandler, Russel Brand, Courtney Cox, Guy Pearce and numerous others..........looks quite good, but my computer was calling, and I needed to catch up with some emails, and of course all my cyber friends here on GR

My favourite and the OH's Some Like it Hot.

Seen it nearly everytime it has been on TV.

Saw it on the stage, produced and acted in by Tommy Steele and this was good

Hi Elizabeth, nice to be back and glad we have another Mickey Rourke fan here!! I know he was a bit of a wild one and isn't as 'pretty' anymore...but hey he's older now and he still has sex appeal in my opinion. He looks like he'd know how to take care of you!! ☺

Best regards,

Pam.

I have to confess David that i don't know to much about the actor Laurence Harvey. Think he died fairly young though didn't he.

I bought The Manchurian Candidate off ebay.
I was disappointed with it.
It was a remake and Id much prefer the Frank Sinatra Laurence Harvey version, even if it is the same story.

Watched "The Truman Show" for the first time the other night........absolutely brilliant, and I`m certainly not a Jim Carey fan but my daughters told me it was good so decided to watch it,

For those that havn`t seen it, try and catch it, its on Film 4 doing the rounds this week, various days and times.....

Watched a bit of a creepy one last night...The Happening starring Mark Whalberg { yes I know Pam, thats why I watched it}...........it was made last year 2008, and is about a virus/gas that makes people kill them selves......yes a bit weird, but watchable.

Also reccommend Taken starring Liam Neeson also from last year....... not for the squeamish as theres a lot of killing ,but nevertheless Liam Neeson is very good in it, very watchable...

You can tell its xmas holidays... me and OH are sitting up all hours catching the late films.

Hope you all had a lovely xmas, ....

Nicky

Reply to Whacky Jackie - 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. I remember my Dad coming home from a term overseas with the RAF and the whole family went to the Odeon in Peterborough to watch this! Brilliant

But I say again, especially at this time of year ...... It's a Wonderful Life!

Dear All

Hello

Yes David, me too!

I regularly look out for videos/DVD's at car boot sales and charity shops.

I got "The Manchurian Candidate" with Laurence Harvey, Frank Sinatra and Angela Lansbury. Superb.

Steve McQueen is one of my all time favourite actors.

Best wishes to all

Iv'e an enormous collection of second hand videos.
I get them on average for about 3 or 4 for a pound at charity shops or car boot sales.
A few days ago I picked up Steve McQueens BULLET and a few westerns.

I still rate John Wayne above Clint Eastwood in a western. Pity they never co-starred in one.

Dear All

Hello

Hope you are all well.

Eyebrows Ed and Nicky .........I need to take the skates off.
My cinema is not showing "2012" now!

Blimey, I didn't realise Pam's thread was almost a year old.
Where has the year gone?

Morag.......excellent choices for films. I think "The Eagle has landed" is on over Christmas.

David....................I have just got two films in the charity shops:

"Cape Fear", the original with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum.
"All about Eve" with Bette Davis and Ann Baxter

Have you all noticed how the shops sell enormous box sets of TV series? It would take ages to watch all the episodes.

Take care

Very best wishes
