Yes Bruce Springsteen - I remember going to see him at Wembley Arena in OMG 1981 or was it 82? He didn't have a support band - he played two sets and then 3 encores! People started to go but I knew he was still playing more because he hadn't done 'Born to Run' (probably my favourite track of all time - he could have written that song about me - the girl's name wasn't Wendy but ...)

The staff at Wembley Arena turned the lights on at about 11:30 and he was still playing!

The film takes place in an English village during WWII.
Some German spies are holding the villagers hostage.

It is a film of twists as no one knows who the spies are.
Tension packed.

Not been around for a couple of days...been busy...Johnny Depp not the only one whos had a birthday this week....drat another year older......and I`m a bit older than Johnny Depp as well...but 2 years younger that Hugh Laurie who`s birthday it is today.

OH was watching Mad Max as well........ isn`t the TV terrible at the moment.

Shine on Harvey Moon...didn`t that have linda Robson and Pauline Quirk {Birds of a feather} in it ? I didn`t watch it myself but my mum used to love it at the time.

Got a great b`day gift from middle daughter.....The Die Hard Quadriology........so now i can watch Bruce in that dirty vest whenever I want,

Eldest chose a good prezzie as well.......Bruce Springsteen and The E street Bands Greatest Hits.... its got all the great hits on from Born to Run {probably one of my all time fave songs} Hungry Heart, Glory Days many others and the brilliant Dancing in the Dark...another favourite, I only saw the advert for it on TV on sunday and commented that I`d like it, and lo and behold 3 days later i get it for my birthday, and i always think no one in this house listens to me!!! Think it will be great to drive to, must get the CD player in the car fixed...... for all you ageing rockers out there...a highly recommended album.....

He then drops a hacksaw next to Johnny the Boy and walks off ...

Watching Mad Max at the moment - got to be the best of the three films. I remember seeing it when it came out; I think it was Mel Gibson's first starring role. Also got the lovely Joanne Samuel in it as Max's wife (I used to have the hots for her when the Aussie soap 'The Young Doctors' was on in the 70s)

There's not been much on the telly full stop Ed lately!! Do you remeber a series in the eighties called "Shine on Harvey Moon", starring Kenneth Cranham and Elizabeth Spriggs, and also Maggie Steed....well borrowed my cousins DVD of the series and we've been watching that on and off...really enjoying it.

Ah Stubby Kaye been gone a while then Ed , ( thank's for looking!) Nat King Cole was young wasn't he. Couldn't believe it when i saw how long he's been gone...time flys!

Yes Stubby Kaye passed away in 1997 (I was arsed to Google it!)

Nat 'King' Cole actually died before the film was released - he passed away in February 1965 and the film came out in September of that year - he was only 45.

The film I always think about alongside Paint Your Wagon (yes Clint did sing 'I talk to the trees' Pam!) is Cat Ballou.

Jane Fonda at her spine-shivering best as Cat (and OMG does she still look good!). Lee Marvin in the dual role as Tim Strawn/Kid Shelleen (love the scene where he's drunk on his horse, the horse is drunk as well and they're both leaning against a wall!) and let's not forget Stubby Kaye and Nat 'King' Cole as the two 'minstrels' narrating the story to music. I haven't seen Cat Ballou for years now but I really love that film.

Burt Lancaster was an actor seldom remembered now.

Watch him in Twighlights Last Gleaming or The Train 2 excellent films

I didn;t usually like Dirk Bofgarde byt he was good in this film

Hi Patricia.....Brief Encounter is my VERY favourite oldie....seen it many times, I just love the way they all talk so precisely, with an almost affected voice, and the innocent times they were then, ..........in our so called premiscuous society today anything seems acceptable, but the way she wrestled with her conscience over her feelings for a man she barely knew, and had really simply just bumped in to and had lunch with, was beautifully portrayed............ the snooty woman at the station cafe, and the annoying friend who interupts their final good-bye.......all great characters...... such a wonderful film.

Yes Pam, Clint Eastwood did sing I talk to the trees...... not one of his finest moments......
