I've never seen Jagged Edge for some reason but I always remember seeing it in the video rental shop and thinking "I must get that out ..."

One I do remember was "The Eyes of Laura Mars" with Faye Dunaway and Tommy Lee Jones. Its about a fashion photographer (Laura Mars/Dunaway) who begins to have visions/premonitions of her friends and colleagues being murdered. She then has a premonition of her own death and it becomes a race against time for the policeman (Tommy Lee Jones) to hunt down the serial killer before he strikes next. I seem to remember there is a great twist ending as well.

Bonnie and Clyde (Faye Dunaway again ...)

Flesh and Blood - starring Rutger Hauer and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Great film this about a group of Germanic mercenaries (landsknechts) in the early 1500s and follows their path across renaissance Italy as they indulge in acts of love, war, betrayal and partying.

'The Eyes of Laura Mars' with Faye Dunnaway and Tommy Lee Jones. Edd...it sounds familiar and I think I've seen it, but a while back though. Is there a scene ewhere he's walking on a foof top carrying a naked girl. It's not crudley done atall, but I have a feeling it's near to the end of the film and as you say there is a twist at the end...forgotton what the twist is though!! doh !

Another good Tommy Lee Jones film I thought (think it was possibly made for telly) was the Gary Gilmour Story, obviously about the murderer Gilmour. Instead of waiting for years on death row asked to be executed. They shot him. I can see him sitting on this chair in what looked like the inside of a large shed/barn.

Couldn't be more different ...the next couple of favourites...Chevy Case and the gang...National Lampoons European and American Vacation...with Beverley De Angelo as the long suffering Ellen his wife. So funny, especially the European one...bit like us when we used to take the kids abroad (Menorca) every year...our lad was just like Rusty in so many ways!!! If you've seen these two you'll know what I mean.

Hi Carol thanks for your post...Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon eh? I had memories of a very funny line in Rising Damp come to mind when I read that . Rigsby says to Miss Jones that she reminded him of the lovely Greer Garson...to which Miss Jones replies..."Did your wife look like Greer Garson Mr Rigsby?" and he says "No Miss Jones, more like Walter Pidgeon."

Yes I seem to remember the scene with him carrying a girl across a roof as well - it was a good few years back when I last saw it too! I remember Laura Mars was an edgy photographer and some of her scenes were considered violent by the police, which is why they suspected her as the serial killer at first. I can't remember the twist too well either, but I saw it at the cinema when it came out and I remember walking out afterwards thinking "Wow, that shouldn't have happened!"

I also remember the Gary Gilmour Story as well - yep the place of execution was pretty grim - or am I thinking about a documentary on Gilmour that I saw?

Oh yes and the National Lampoon films as well - do you remember the first one - Animal House? It had John Belushi in it and was set in a college. I remember one scene where a couple of the lads in the college take a horse into the Principal's office (I think the horse belongs to the officer in charge of the army cadets) and make out they're going to shoot it - then there's and accident with the gun and the horse dies. The funny bit is the following morning there are four horse's legs sticking up in the air from behind a sofa and the janitor is measuring up the horse, to try and get it out of the door. He then walks out and comes back with a saw!

Oh and while I'm on the subject of John Belushi - remember the Blues Brothers?

Fantastic score, with some great acts showcasing in the film (who can forget Ray Charles in his music shop?), a really ridiculous plot and one helluva car chase at the end!!

I have to admit that I've not seen either of those films Edd, Animal House or Blues Brothers, so can't comment on either. Think that my cousin Frank may have Blues Brothers on tape, if he has will give it a look.

Still haven't seen the film Australia yet, but hope to soon. I noticed a trailer on the telly for a film starring Benicio Del Torro, as Che Guevara...he does have a resemblence to him doesn't he? I remember in the seventies going round one of my friend's for tea after school and her brother had 'the Che poster' over over his bed, I asked who he was and she hadn't a clue...perhaps her brother didn't on reflection either...but he looked good in a beret!!

No I suspect it was the film that you saw about Gary Gilmour, they did stick fairly rigidly to the facts.

No I haven't got around to seeing Australia yet either - and now I'm back at work I suspect I won't get a chance to either!

I've just had a look at a webste for Benicio Del Toro and he is a ringer for Che Guevara. It looks as though the film is one of a two-part biography about the man.

I remember the poster too - and the tee-shirt (I had one) - but I knew who he was thanks to my seriously revolutionary English teacher.

He wasn't called 'Citizen Smith' was he Edd? lol. I loved that series in the seventies. Robert Lyndsey has gone on to become a house hold name, done lot's of theatre work too I believe.

I remember the Gary Gilmour film, if I remember correctly it was called The Executioners song..... also starred the excellent Rosanna {Ithink} Arquette as his long suffering girl friend...{always get those Arquette sisters mixed up!!}

Another good film with her was one with Christian slater, name escapes me at the moment........ he plays a character called Elvis, who meets and falls in love with the very wacky charecter played by Rossanna, they marry very quickly and run off to Miami with a load of money stolen from drug barons, its also one of the very 1st appearences of Brad Pitt who plays his roommate, does anyone remember it? Please put me out of my misery and tell me the title lol

It has Patricia Arquette in it and Brad Pitt. I haven't seen the film myself but it looks a good 'un.

I also noticed its got Christopher Walken on the cast list - I think he's a great actor; his portrayal of the Hessian in Sleepy Hollow was fantastic (especially as he was headless for about 95% of the film!)

The 1st film I can remember seeing him in was The Deer Hunter....what a brilliant film, always remembered for that haunting game of Russian Roulette they were made to play when taken prisoner....wasn`t that an oscar winner for Robert De Niro?

.....and yes I got my "Arquettes" mixed up again, it WAS Patricia not Rosanna......

Another brilliant one, also from the 70`s....Midnight Express.... about the guy arrested for smuggling drugs at Istanbul Airport, and was sentenced to life/25years in a Turkish prison, it followed his time there, and eventual escape......was a true story, I read the book a few years later, think it also starred John Hurt as the "friend" he made in there.... quite harrowing stuff, the brutality of the guards etc..... and must mention OH`s favourite film from that era......Warriors..... about the street gang in New York, who attended a ralley and the head Speaker got shot, the "Warriors" got blamed and had to make it back to safety with all the other "gangs" after
them...... watched it a couple of years ago on sky.... looks pretty dated now, but in its time was very original....

Blimey Ed what a memory!!.... fancy remembering all their names.......though I do remember Swan the leader, played by the very handsome Michael Beck?...... don`t think Iv`e seen him in anything since!!

I've got the Warriors on DVD - must have watched it at least 20 times over the years.

Yes I do remember Midnight Express; another fantastic film. John Hurt is another one of those actors who always provides a glittering performance in whatever he does. The one scene I do seem to remember that shocked me was (suprisingly) the one where the kids are given the 'bastinado' by the Prison Governor.

"Bastinado"....i presume you mean being beaten on their feet with wooden poles.?...... very harrowing stuff..... just looked it up on Google and saw it was directed by Oliver Stone, think it must have been one of his early, if not 1st films......

Another goody....born on the 4th of July, about the Vietnam war Veterans, played very well by Tom Cruise,

Agree about John Hurt ,always gives a riveting preformance, always remembered for the "Elephant Man"
