Hi ladies,

Sleep was dreamless last night (or should I say this morning!) not many things seem to phase me - I normally find horror films amusing - but this one was a bit different.

Just taken an on-line test for a job - I got the request on Thursday and eventually got round to it this evening. Didn't get the one I interviewed for the other week; the firm decided that they wanted an additional skill for the successful candidate that I don't have AFTER I had the interview. They said I was very articulate and presentable and that if it hadn't been for this one missing piece I would have got the role. I've had a think back on it and I reckon they didn't intend to hire anyone - analysing the test and questions I had I think they were bringing people in to get some free consultation advice on how to upgrade their systems. It's a nasty trick that is used in my industry, especially when money is tight.

Never mind, I have another interview lined up for Wednesday and this one is MORE MONEY! I also have every skill they want and more and have already had some very encouraging feedback from the agency who contacted me about the role.

I haven't watched any TV at all today; I spent most of the day in the garden giving it a big tidy up so we can start using it in the summer.

Bog all on telly tonight, so I'm snuggled up on the sofa with my lappy, cruising the boards and doing a bit of revision. One exam down (passed with a score of 907 out of 1000) and six more to go ...

I was sometimes asked at interviews:

"How would you improve things around here/the systems/procedures, etc"?

Yes, if you want that advice employ someone properly.

Cheeky beggars!

Even now, it is still hard for employers to find reliable, competent
and good workers so do not get despondent.

We watched a couple of DVD episodes of "Moonlighting" with
Cybil Sheppard and Bruce Willis.

Do you know this was shown in 1987?!

Crikey that was 22 years ago!

The other afternoon Channel 4 showed "I was a Male War Bride"
with Cary Grant and Ann Sheridan.

I missed this but I love most of Cary Grant's films.

If it is not too cheeky, what are you studying EyebrowsEd?

Hi Elizabeth,

I work in IT and am currently upgrading my qualification for my "Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer" badge to Windows Server 2003. It's something I should have done at least two years ago really but I never got around to the studying. Here's a link to the qualification:

It's seven exams in all, I then need to upgrade to Windows Server 2008.

My eventual goal is to become a Microsoft Certified Architect - this is the pinnacle of the Microsoft qualifications and gives you an industry recognised qualificaiton to design and implement complex IT solutions. Holders of this qualification demand a high salary!

Just got confirmation for my next interview - they've moved it to Thursday morning now, which is fine by me. Better make sure I don't go to bed too late tomorrow night!

I'd also better get on with finishing my little 'un's bedroom as well (OH got me decorating to keep me out of the pub!)

Yes David that's right. He and Carey Grant ended up marrying two of the ladies in the film didn't they? I liked the ending when Carey Grant's "Wife" came to pick him up by the quay and nearly wrecked the place with her driving! Lovely film.

Your course sounds very complex Ed...... I always admire people from our generation who work in IT, we wern`t brought up with computors like the youngsters of today, and using one as I do now for my hobby and chatting with you lot, theres still an awful lot i don`t know..... So good luck with it all, and hope you land the right job soon.

Talking of Tony Curtis did anyone see him on The One Show the other week? he didn`t look very well, and seemed a bit out of sorts, not really knowing what was being said etc.......he pretty old now, I think in his 80s, but was extremely handsome in his youth.

Anyone watched Ladette to Lady on ITV?

OMG those Aussie girls are such a laugh! Why turn them into ladies - they looked and acted fine to me (snigger).

They were late arriving at the finishing school - they ran riot on the plane over from Oz and the police were called.

Funniest thing was when they were hosting a cocktail party for some "eligible batchelors" - the cream of the upper class apparently. One of them said (after a few tinnies) "Bunch of inbred t***ers" .

Best program on TV at the moment.

While we are talking about Tony Curtis, some of his memorable roles are The Vikings with Kirk Douglas and Spartacus, again with Kirk Douglas. I think he starred with Jack Lemon and Maralin Monroe in a black and white comedy and even as The Boston Strangler

Bit of trivia, his former wife Janet Leigh was the naked blonde that Norman Bates murdered in the shower scene in PSYCHO

Yes David "Some Like it Hot", with one of my favourites George Raft. A wonderful dancer was George, and he played the leading man in "Bolero" with the lovely Carol lombard...my dad's pin up. I could go on and on.

Yes Elizabeth Carey Grant, he was very handsome and he and Deborah Kerr made a lovely couple.

Think Janet Leigh was Jamie Lee Curtis' mum David.

If you like Humphrey Bogart I recommend The Caine Mutiny and SAHARA . In Sahara he plays a tank commander in North Africa.
And how about him as Charlie in The African Queen ?

Yes Pam.....Jamie Lee Curtis is the daughter of Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis....no wonder shes so striking to look at, shes played some very good film roles, loved her in My Girl, but my favourite has to be True Lies with Arnie Schwarzanegger {sp??}......the bit where shes off to the hotel room to meet him, and catches a glimpse of herself, realising she dosn`t quite look the part in the next few seconds she turns from frump to Vamp, by ripping off the bottom of her dress, and the sleeves, and damping her hair down with the water from the vase of flowers....its a classic scene and always makes me chuckle.....have any of you seen it?

Spartacus David.......one of OHs favourites, along with Ben Hur and Zulu.....with the footie season at a close he`ll be watching ALL of them in the next few weeks probably, and out will come the DVD box sets of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars............ roll on August and the return of the football....Lol
