Looking at Nicky's reference to bikes there's a great film that nobody's mentioned: Easyrider with Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson.

Love the story and the soundtrack.

Bit of trivia: Easyrider came out around the same time as On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the only Bond film to star George Lazemby. It outstripped OHMSS at the box office, which prompted Lazemby to give up on the Bond role after one film as he thought the genre had had its day.

Evening folks,

You're both on good form tonight! Yes Nicky, us Geminis do have the gift of the gab I must agree with you there. I worked in a call centre only part time for about 18 months a couple of years back and as you can imagine the staff turn over was crazy. I really enjoyed it though...you were 'cold calling' during the day and basically trying to get people to have safety checks on their fuse boxes with the view to getting a sale for the company to fit a new trip box. I did really well, as like you say us Geminis do have that ability to talk people round...it's called bull**it! You've either got it or you haven't!!

I don't remember 'Fox' at all. I can't watch Scum, I find it really disturbing.

Talking of seventies fashions, our wedding photos look very Saturday Night Fever! I liked that film for the dancing and the music.

Frankie and Johnny with Al Pacino I thought was a nice little film. Al Pacino making a play for Michelle Pfeiffer. It was very nice as he sets about wooing her in a kind of old fashion nice way, she tries to resist but it's those brown eyes...they do it every time!

Do you know the more I think about it...the film that I mean is "The Pit and The Pendulum" and NOT "Premature Burial." I know it's that one as when Nicky mentioned them opening the coffin and seeing the scratch marks on the lid that was the bit that frightened the life out of me too!!!!!!!!!

Oh its all coming back to me now......... Levis a size too tight, us girls did the same thing you know, and the bigger the flare on your trousers the better, especially when teamed with the biggest platform shoes you could find....... I can see it now, was about 1975, Saturday night disco at the local village hall, and all us girls in a line dancing to Fox on the Run by the Sweet in a sort of "Mud Walk/stomp" style, i remember the noise was deafning, and the next day we could hardly walk where our feet hurt so much from those bl***y ridiculous shoes, now in my 40`s anything over a 2 inch heel and i get a nose bleed, definetly go for comfort nowadays!!

East rider. what a great film, and didn`t all you men want to BE Peter Fonda, he was so cool ...............

So Ed, a liking for Kate Beckinsale in tight leather......hhhhmmmmmm you sound like my OH, doubt he`ll bother with the latest one if she isn`t in it either.....

Havn`t seen Frankie and Johnny Pam, but my favourite Al Pacino films have to be Sea of Love and Serpico, both of which I think were mentioned in earlier postings.

Don`t think I can blame my gift of the gab ALL on being a Gemini Pam....my 2 older daughters are the same, and are born in February and July respectively, funnily enough the older one works in a call centre for a leading energy company, taking calls and selling contracts, and guess what? shes the top seller on her team..........

Intresting trivia tip Ed about the James Bond film and Easy Rider......must keep that in the back of my brain with all the other useless information i seem to store there,....... always think it will come in useful for a Pub quiz one day!!.....

Be back later
Nicky

Hi Nicky,

If you Like Sea of Love with Al Pacino in it then you'd like Frankie and Johnny, they look good together Al and Michelle in that film. It's the dark and fair/opposites attract thing I think.

I'm going off the thread a bit here, but I have this eye colour thing that drives my friends and family nuts...I think that people with opposite eye colour (for instance a light eyed female will normally be attracted to a dark eyed fella and visa versa) I'm blonde with light blue eyes and my hubby is brown eyed...I know, it's rubbish you're thinking...but it's my little theory...can't wait for Ed's take on that!!! lol (Yes how many to a Brazillian Ed?!)

But going on who your fav movie stars are (ie.) Steve Mc Queen, Paul Newman to name a few...I'd guess you're brown or hazel eyed? It's a Gemini thing! but I bet if you think about your friends and family and who there other halfs are, most will be opposite eye colour to them.

Anyway enough of this rambling...back to films!

"Strictly Ballroom," very good Aussie film about a dance competion...anyone seen it!? Some exellent dancing by Paul Mercurio (brown eyes!)

Evening Pam......will try and catch Frankie and johnny next time it is on.....

Sorry you guessed wrong with my eye colour, blue, and so are all 3 of my girls, I actually am a real sucker for men with blue eyes, Daniel Craig, Steve Mcqueen, ..... to name a couple but i like dark hair and dark skin, and you don`t often find blue eyed men with that colouring. I am the only one in my family with blue eyes, my dads side were Greeks and my sister has brown eyes, as did all my dads family, my mum has Hazel eyes , but her brother has blue eyes and that must be where i get mine from........ Anyway back to the film thread......

Whats your favourite Disney/kids/animated film......... I just love Monsters inc......... I think Sully the big turqouise top scarer is SO adorable, and was thrilled when we were in Disneyland Paris, and he was wondering around posing for photos with the kids {Yes I know it was just a Disney employee dressed up in a Sully outfit} but all the same I was delighted..........

Also love Mrs Doubtfire, starring Robin Williams ,Sally field and Pearce Brosnan have you ever seen it?

No havn`t seen Strictly Ballroom, but have seen that other aussie film about the girl who was Abba mad Muriels wedding, that was quite funny.

Hi Nicky, bet you and your girls are beautiful, certainly sound it.

The last Disney film that i took my two kids to see was The Little Mermaid, it was lovely, even my son liked it. Think though for me personally it's got to be Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. Just so nice. Oh and of course Bambi....aaarggghhh tears everywhere!!!

☼ Pam ☼ Report 21 Jan 2009 22:26

Yes saw Mrs Doubtfire with the kids again...seems so long ago! Robin Williams was very good in it wasn't he.

EyebrowsEd Report 21 Jan 2009 22:54

Evening ladies,

OK eyes - mine are pale green and I have dark skin and almost black hair (what's left of it!). My OH is fair - both hair and complexion - with green eyes.

My eldest girl has my skin and hair colour, but blue/grey eyes (her friends at school reckon she looks like Angelina Jolie but I don't!) My youngest has her mum's skin and hair colour but deep brown eyes; so we're quite a mish-mash of colourings.

Hmmm ... Disney films, let me think. Has to be either Jungle Book or Cindarella - love the two mice (my cat, Gus, is named after the little fat one!!). Off the top of my head I can't think of any other kids films that paticularly stand out for me, but we all liked Night at the Museum, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp (even though it is quite dark; thanks Tim Burton!) and the two latest Narnia films (I read the Narnia books when I was a kid and I couldn't wait until my girls were old enough to read them so we could get them the complete collection).

Unfortunately, my eldest is now getting to the age where she's into her "girlie" teens films; like Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, so she goes to the cinema with my OH most of the time now. My youngest isn't quite old enough for this type of film so if there's nothing else on at the multiplex we go cycling.

Mrs Doubtfire is a great film - I enjoy most things with Robin Williams in it - loved Good Morning Vietnam, Hook, Patch Adams and Bicentennial Man (based on a short story by Isaac Asimov).

I've not seen Frankie and Johnny either, but thought Sea of Love was fantastic, but I'll not go on about Ellen Barkin ...

Nickydownsouth Report 21 Jan 2009 22:59

Its amazing how going with the kids, ia always a great excuse to see a film.......my youngest is 14 now, so don`t get to see so many nowadays, but I do like the look of the new Disney, Hollywood Chuihua, seen it advertised on TV a couple of times and it looks quite good, mind you i love all those films with dogs.....

Evening Ed, well that's my eye theory gone for a burton!

Talking of him...(Tim Burton) have you two seen "Women Talking Dirty ", it has Tim Burton's Mrs in it Helena Bonham Carter. It's a really nice film and has a vein of good humour through it. The title makes it sound a bit 'iffy' but it's not like that at all. Oh yes and I nearly forgot...James Purefoys' in it....tee hee!

EyebrowsEd Report 21 Jan 2009 23:11

Hi Pam,

No I've not seen Women Talking Dirty; but I'll give it a look if I get the chance.

Oh by the way, if it helps your eye colour theory - I'm blue/green/grey colour blind.

David Bowie has one hazel and one blue i think...anyway enough of that back to films...

Thought of this one the other day when I was driving behind this ruddy great oil tanker, I thought I must put this one on our film thread...DUAL. With Dennis Weaver. Very creepy, as you never actually get to see his face do you, clever stuff. Poor old Dennis Weaver is sweating like mad isn't he, and all he wanted was to overtake and get home for tea!!! Very good at the end when he goes over the cliff.

I think ANY father would say his daughter dosn`t look like Angelina Jolie, the thought of all the attention she`ll get from the boys is enough to keep you awake at night......but seriously Ed, she sounds lovely.

Night at the museum, yes that was good ,but have to disagree on Willy Wonka, I love the original with Gene wilder, and have to admit was a bit dissapointed with the Johnny Depp version.

One film I did see at the pictures when it first came out, and too my suprise thoroughly enjoyed was Transformers........ have either of you seen it? didn`t realise till the credits went up at the end that it was a Steven Spielberg, no wonder it was so good.......

101 Dalmatians is another Disney goodie, when I was a child we had a Dalmatian dog, bought after we all fell in love with them when the film came out, mind you she wasn`t as cuddly and cute as the ones on the film, and was a bit bad tempered, but nowadays I have a Boxer, who is just an absolute joy, and the soppiest most lovable dog you could ever meet, I always call her my 4th baby, as OH drew the line when I talked about having a 4th child, we`ve only had her about 5 years, but the glrls all love her.

OH is watching a programme on tv at the moment about the making of Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah, have either of you seen it,? it really was different to anything I`ve ever seen, and of course had a great soundtrack, the Dido song Thank you was featured in it, one of those songs that gives me goosebumps.

No never seen Sliding Doors Nicky. Have heard it's a good one though. Didn't the actor from 'Bread' write it? Peter howlett I think it was. I'm more of a cat person nicky, although we did have a King charles Cavalier named Lu Lu, she was lovely, but she died in 2003, so we've said no more pets.
Yes Edd your girl sounds lovely.

women talking dirty Pam.......sounds like the sort of film you find on those xxx channels.!!! lol,

Yes Bowie has got 2 different coloured eyes, I`m a school taxi escort for disabled children and 2 of the 3 in my taxi have different coloured eyes, so its not as unusual as you think....

EDIT... Yes joey from Bread did write it, didn`t know that till I just saw it on the documentary, apparently he`s done a lot of films.

Re Robin Williams films Ed, yes agree on Good morning vietnam, and Patch adams was lovely, also liked the one where he was oversized was it called Jack?........ and hes very sinister in One hour Photo...... shows what a versatile actor he is, the fact that he can play so many different styles of charecter.
