I am a real film fan, but don't get to see as many now as I used to. Just wondered what were other peoples favourite films and why? You can mentioned more than one film...so here goes.

Ryan's Daughter, a classic by director David Lean. It is very bleak at times but it's very atmospheric I think.
Plus it's got the lovely Christopher Jones in it.

That's one of hubby's favourites Ann, Where Eagles Dare...Broad Sword Calling Danny Boy!

Another good one...DULCIMA, starring John Mills Carol White and a very handsome Stuart Wilson, lovely storyline set in glorious country side...with a very suprising ending, a real Gem of a film!! Not shown nearly enough...thank god i've got it on DVD and tape!

Another one of my favourite films...some might say it's a bit corny but it cheers you up on a miserable day here in the UK is...'Come September', starring Rock Hudson, Gina Lollabridgida, Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin.

It's just so lovely as it's set in Italy and the skies are so blue, the women are dressed so feminin and with style. Pure escapism from this 'in ya face world!!!'
Got a humourus veign running through it and all the actors are on top form. Love this film.

Hello Dorothy, I haven't seen that film, but the title sounds familiar. My film tastes vary so much,I Ilike a good war film, gangster, romance anything really as long as it's well made. Don't like the Die Hard, Leathel Weapon cr*p! Far to 'over the top' for me!!

It's based on the life of F Scott Fitzgerald the American novelist. Memoirs of Sheelagh Graham his lover
I have seen it dozens of times and cry my eyes out every time I see it.
Always enjoy a film if I cry lol

Hi Jackie thanks for your post. Yes we all have films that we can watch over and over again don't we. Gregory Peck was so handsome. I will have to keep a look out for that film, it sounds a good one. He's still alive I believe, although he must be a good age.

I do have a fondness for musicals but I think that's because mum and dad liked them and watched them - the Busby Berkeley ones, Bing Crosby, that lot! Fabulous.

Jill lot's of women like Alan Rickman don't they. I think he's ok, but if I had to... it would be the gorgous James Purefoy, dribble dribble!!!! He was in a lovely film called Jilting Joe and played Mark Anthony in Rome. Corrrr!!!! He's been in quite a few films, and apart from being very easy on the eye he's a good actor with lovely brown eyes and a lovely body!

Where's that cold shower....oh young man! ha ha. ☺

My much missed and loved late dad was in love with Ginger Rogers.

Well, I've never heard of James Purefoy so I shall keep an eye out for him ...

When my son was very young (about 2 years old or so) they played a season of Deanna Durbin films and he was completely rivetted. He would lay on the floor as close to the TV as he could get and there would be no moving him until the films finished! He totally denies this nowadays - he's nearly 30. But he has a love of films that I have never seen in anyone else. He's one of those who can do the 6 steps from one character to another, quite often in less than 6 steps ... beats me!
