Much better second time around, I was only with my oh for 10 years before he died but I love him more then yesterday and less then tomorrow. The love and feelings never go away.

Married for 17 years and she decided to have an afair. 3 years later meet my present wife who had two children, We have been together over 30 years and I still love her as though it was when we first meet. The boys love me as a father, and I them, as my sons. Happy as the Pig in S---.

yes you're right - I've come to terms with it a bit now but for you it must still be pretty raw - I don't weep so much now - music does it for me - a Nat King Cole or an Eddie Fisher and I'm off!! But not in front of others, only in my car

Like you I feel so lucky that we met and were together for so long but I do so miss the company and someone to go out somewhere with - I have lots of lovely friends but just to have someone hold your hand or put an arm around you, that's what I miss so much!!

A priceless moment, Igor. Remember them - they pass too swiftly!

Yes, Ann, 18 months ago. I'm not sure it's grim - rather to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Jill, that's really lovely

I thought at first it was a mindless cut and paste from some song and nearly ignored it. I'm glad I didn't!

All the best

Quite so, Ann

I first met my husband over 25 years ago and you know that song;

"Zoom, just one look and then my heart went boom"

I felt that the first day, and I felt it the last.

I did write him a poem one Valentine's day - back in 1997 this was:

Valentine

I wanted a Valentine poem for you
But I’m now in my forties and you’re fifty two
And I’m not a romantic slip of a gel
As you know ‘cos you reckon you know me so well.

I never expect the sky to be blue
Or the stars to be out, or the moon to be new.
I don’t want romance, or bunches of flowers
Or sweet nothing pillow-talk lasting for hours.

I just want to love somebody like you
And I do, though I’m forty and you’re fifty two.

So although this poem is sincerely meant
It’s not hand-wrote italic, nor sprayed with scent
But typed, as you see, which I do very well
(The computer can check all the words I can’t spell)

I’ll stand by your side through thick and through thin
Except if I’m blotto from tonic and gin
Or you’ve had a curry and three pints of beer
In which case, no thank you, I’ll stand over here.

So don’t buy me flowers, I’d rather have booze
And please stop complaining about all my shoes
And the clothes in heaps all over the floor
And the draught that comes whistling in through the door

And anything else that makes you go grumpy
Including me when I’m pre-menstrual humpy
I promise that soon I’ll catch up with the ironing
If you tell me daily I’m all you’re desiring.

‘Cos I just want to love somebody like you
And I do, though I’m forty and you’re fifty two.

awh - go on Jill - nothing wrong with a bit of romantic gush!!! makes the world go round - pity there wasn't a bit more of it on these boards some days!!!!

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 27 Nov 2008 22:31

I think you know if it is love - it's when you see them from a distance when you a meeting them somewhere - and when you spot them you heart gives a little leap - maybe not as big a leap as it did when you were first married, but it's still there

Yeah but do you only love her 'cos she carries the shopping home from the supermarket?

Seriously though, yes. I'm of a certain age and my OH makes me laugh every day. Plus he's cuddly, plus he's a lovely bloke. I could go on but I'm not one of those gushy romantic types so I won't ...
