Today would have been mums 59th wedding aniversay, she unfortunately is unaware of the date.
i have spent the last 48 hours at her bedside, only coming home to shower and change, on Monday morning just as I was leaving to go to the hospice, we got THE call from them saying unfortunately she had passed away, the nurse was stood at mums bedside, and as she spoke, she must have come back to us, as she said wait she hasnt gone, get here asap, so i have been there ever since. One of the elders from the church was there and he said to me he had never seen anything like it, she had no pulse and her pupils were dilated. I just dont know what to think.
At 4.00am this morning she woke and was halucinating and was in such a state she was screaming, shouting and crying, they had to give her a sedative, but it took 4 nurses to hold her down, it was very distressing for everyone. Her time is now very close, so I am not sure when I can leave my next message, but thank you all for your thoughts and prayers

Ann, I am so sorry your poor Mum is becoming confused and not eating, hope you can keep her with you a little longer, to get through Christmas perhaps. When my friend was in the hospice a while back her sister in law was very firm with her to get her to eat and we would take in little morsels to tempt her as well as encouraging her to order different things from the kitchens, so that she could eat a little.
It's so hard to see your loved one not eating as that is the basic nurturing thing in us women especially I think, and to have her not recognising folk is sad too.
I hope she can be kept painfree as much as possible but will be a little more alert when you see her next.
Bless her, she has done so well,

Oh dear, she wasnt good tonight, she didnt recognise her sister, but did recognise her brother in law ans wanted to know who he had brought to see her, she cannot string together more than 6words which make a sentence, half is maybe what has been in her dream and half is what is going on, it is heartbreaking, but this is what we have exchanged for pain free.....She has also started to twitch very severley, almost as if her body is shutting down. I have never been in this situation before and do not know what to expect next, the hospice staff say they will get the doc. to check her meds again tomorrow in case it is the dosage that nneeds adjusting but i hope not at the cost of her being in pain.
I have spoekn to her minister tonight he said he willl go and see her 1st thing in the morning,

i just feel so helpless, i did how-ever manage to force-feed her today as she doesnt even have the strenght to hold her fork to eat, and the staff cannot o this for her as it is seen as force feeding and they are not allowed to do this, why didnt they tell us this before>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

keep the prayers coming, pleasse
Ann

Mum was very down yesterday when we saw her, she was for the first time weepy and said she wanted it to come soon, as she didnt want to spoil everyones Christmas!!!!!!!

Will my lovely mum every stop putting others before herself. suppose that is what makes her who she is.
She has no pain, so the prayers are working ( along with the wonderful nurses.
We took a bottle of wine in for the nursing staff yesterday as a Christmas present from mum. all 36 bottles, she was pleased we had thought oof the staff, as so many people remember the hospice and give a legacy but the staff can get forgotten.

Hope she is brighter today
