Hiya everyone,
Been a good day here today very sunny. Red Arrows just been across nearly took the roof off as usual. But I love to hear and see them. They always go over about the same time just as my grandkids and kids leaving school and kids love it.
Think they took the sun with them going dark now.
Take Mum to get her pension tonight and do a bit of shopping. The people in post office are quite used to our little "scenario". You know, forgot number, do I want a lottery ticket, is it anybodys birthday and so on.Then Iceland, we talk to all the staff it's quite a laff. Mind most know me as son worked there for 15yrs!
Time to pshyce(sike) myself up.How do you spell that word?? lol

HI Trinity and all
Thank you so much for this thread. When I read all the problems people have it makes me feel much better knowing I am not on my own.

I am not having a good day today. I went to see my brother this morning and got the shock of my life. He has deteriorated so much in the few days since we last saw him. Normally he is on the go all the time but today he was lethargic and dragging his leg when he did walk. He didn't seem to want us to be there. He then went into his room and layed down on the bed. So we came home.
I spoke to the nurse in charge and he said he had been like this for a few days so he thinks the Motor Neurone Disease is now rapidly taking over his body. The Demetia is also getting worse as he didn't respond most of the time when we spoke to him.
The nurses are so good and do what they can for him but not a lot you can do other than be there for him.
So I cried all the way home. Luckily I have a great husband who is my best support and he made me a coffee and did his best to take my mind off things.
I told him about this Thread and he said just type how you feel maybe that will help.
So I hope you don't mind me rambling on. It's nice to chat to someone other than family that know all about these terrible diseases.

Hope you all have a nice day.
Catch up with you soon
Hugs
Jackie

HI Bev
My brother is in a Dementia ward. There is so much love there from his carers and they try and keep them happy all the time.
The powers that be don't work there every day and have to contend with patients.
I see myself how happy these patients are when they have something to do like dance around to the music and not be in a ward that's miserable.
Keep up the good work and don't change for no body.
Regards
Jackie

Keep happiness and fun for Dementia peeps. They may not follow why it's fun and laughter but many will enjoy the atmosphere. We can't keep them miserable.

On a more serious note.I heard on the radio this morning that more brains are needed to be donated for research into dementia.I think it is a Brain Research place in Bristol. They need brains from people without dementia.

Keep it as it is Bev ,the residents need to enjoy some laughter and entertaining in their lives.Who has come up with this pompous suggestion? The home my Mum was in was always full of laughter and little parties.Big party at Xmas which was a hoot,BBQ's all sorts. The staff were wonderful.I still keep in touch even though Mum has been gone nearly 4 years.

Yep.I did mention it earlier in the thread perhaps you missed that Helen.
Social worker came out a few weeks ago and when I rang to check what was happening --she had closed the case!!!!! she thought Mum was okay as we were there for her. Stupid girl forgot I was disabled. Doh! unreal they are. She thought Mum wasn't too bad as she was good that day she visited Perhaps she should do several visits and catch her out. I don't think she was best placed to be dealing with dementia patientsat all......I will get her help I am going to demand it. Going to get back to our GP next week too and demand hers does more. A lot more. Mind it does all hang on this next visit with her consultant. He is a very good man and has promised to help as he thinks she has early onset dementia most probably alzheimers.
Oh dear I must go to bed I'm afraid. My energy levels are zapped.
Thankyou again all for your help and understanding.
Tricia xx night night God Bless

You need to be really tough .I don't know if I have already asked this but has your mum been assessed?
When I say tough you need to get some agency involved.
