yes i agree, i found that some of the younger staff were not tolerant enough, and often couldnt understand why the residents hid things and accused them of stealing their pension books etc....it's all part of the illness... |

i agree there stella staff need to be trained especially how to communicate with dementia clients without belittling them. |

well iam talking 18 yrs ago..it was a night mare then 4 to a bedroom , but i kn ow that is illegal now, think conditions are better on the whole ..but the staff make or break these peoples lives to be honest. |

Stella i'm glad to say not all private homes are the same, the demntia clients we have vary from mild to severe where they need full assistance |

i worked in a council residential home, and we had to take all the ones that the private homes refused to take so many of them were disabled as well and doubly incontinent |

Its good having the carers because they do a written log of what time they come in (which is three times a day) and they will cook a microwave dinner, do the tablets and have a chat.we have some lovely ones come in and if there are any problems, they will ring me straight away, they are now like friends popping round and is the best thing we could have done for my parents. |

MMM. Hiding everything! At first pills hidden everywhere,Now she just not taken them but asserts she has.Still left in the daily dosage box. Says shes filled it up. she can't I keep the pills. |

maybe long read but very interesting Tom kitwood founded the bradford university of dementia and his books are extremely interesting, as i said we're here to support |
