Marie from Bathurst Hi Mary ,Tony,Yvonne, Its freezing here in B/hurst and blowing a gale, to cold to go out in, feeling down no results yet on halter monitor trial, get to see the Specialist on tuesday hope he can give me some idea on what is causing my problem. I am getting frustrated not being able to get out and about with so much gardening needing to be done . Thank goodness for the computer. Did anyone watch the Rugby League World Cup last night The Kiwis will be celebrating for weeks. Tony congratulations on finding your Barnes Family. I have a John O'Brien I have been looking for ,for many years.He just dissapeared in 1890, I have been trying to get a death certificate but no luck. I have had great success with my relations in England but cant get anything on the rellies in Cork or Mullingar West Meath. However I keep on trying Hi Yvonne, You just keep that snow to yourself,thank you very much. Bye to you all Marie.

Tony I have found many mistakes in the 1841 uk census,, Dont think there were many educated people doing the collecting..I think I found about 5 mistakes in one family alone..Good for you finding your mob,,it makes for a good feeling..
Having a quiet sunday..hope all are now well and if not on the road to improving..

Morning...:>))
Wev'e had some good rain around Melb. over the last few days, but also very cool, and had heating on last night. Seems strange that in eight days time we start summer, but looking outside you would think we are heading for winter.....lol
Had a great find on Ancestry U.K last night ( 1841 census ) My great great grandmother Martha Barnes ( nee Coglan ) hubby ( George Barnes ) and family immigrated to Victoria in the 1850s and settled in Richmond - Burnley area. They were the parents of the James BARNES i had found buried with sister Georgianna in Booroodara ( Kew ) Cem. in Melb. I had found her ( Martha ) marriage ( 1835 ) and birth ( 1814 ) in Liverpool, Lancashire. They immigrated 1851 with 7 daughters last daughter being born in 1849 Liverpool, and next child born was 1854 Melbourne Vic. I logged on to Ancestry U.K hoping to find them on the 1841 census knowing they had two daughters born already.... Sarah 1836 and Elizabeth 1838.
I found on the 1841 what appeared to be Martha and two children ( Sarah and Elizabeth ) in Salford, Lancashire spelt.... BARNS....but no hubbie ( George BARNS ) in sight, so it threw me a little, and couldnt be 100% sure it was my Martha BARNES. Age appeared to be correct ( 25 ), and daughters ages and names, but was looking for that one single factor to prove i had found them. Martha was born Martha ann COGLAN and her mum was Martha Ann also.......and i looked at the census sheet, and low and behold.....two people above Martha BARNS was a Ann COGLAN aged 55 ( born c. 1785 )and a Pall ( Poss: Paul ) COGLAN aged 22......all born same county ( Lancashire )........so feel preety sure this was My Martha COGLAN's mum and sibling living possibly in same house. So i'm claiming the lot of e'm.......by birth right.........:>))))))
Have to go back and check to see where hubbie George james BARNS/BARNES was during 1841...as i cant find him at the moment. According to his death cert and Australian records he was a Carpenter/Builder and his father was an Engineer.
Wishing all a great Sunday
Tony....."A very happy F.H....Detective *

Merle - what fantastic news about your knee. So glad the infection has gone and you are not housebound any more.
~~~~~~~~~ to June SA and June BB. You are right Shazz - BB has changed an awful lot just in the time we have been here.
Great detective work Sir Tone, but then - you are our ace FH detective :)
A fine day here so am planting out the vegeys - have been stopped because of the RAIN!! Whoo Hoo. nice rain, not nasty stuff like QLD have had.
hello all Hz you devil why didn't you tell me when we had our coffee NOT not you anyway but we did well I had tea actually gosh talk about double dutch you are a very naughty girl worrying all on your own but very glad all is well did they give you any explanation re the high count when no nasties present Hz , Steph will do really well with what she has chosen to do as she does with all her endeavours I am sure so that's naught to be worried about , now about this walking can you do about an extra half a hour for me each day send me the email to say its been done and i'Il tell me kilos to get lost then ok lol
Merle you little ripper girl and the really good bit 20 kilos lighter as well smartie pants and guess where MIke is right now after the physio he is playing with his Friday Classic Group (that's their polite name really called the dun ro**ing group )pmsl anyway going on a mate's cart and playing as many as he can he is still not allowed to use his driver so won't be outscoring anyone but is determined to go in the yearly medal on the 6th of Dec which they have to qualify for and he qualified before all the drama started. Tony just imagine if you'd kept going to school mate you would have been a rhodes scholar for sure or won a literary award for poetry or sumpin and I don't know though cause then you wouldn't be on here probably sharing all your talent with us you'd be making a fortune signing books and walking the red carpet etc Loz have you seen whts happened on the motreton bay coastline Scarborough was hit last night Cass went for a bike ride and she nearly died as nothing had had happened all around Redcliffe and then she rounded the corner and lo and behold no roof on on the Scarborough pub and the children's playground has all gone and all the trees are blown down she said like a cyclone just in one spot had hit I asked were we right as we are staying at Scarborough C/P when we go up as she said a miracle they weren't hit too as its right on the beach and all been just done up beautifully. have to go and some h/w and packing up as van is coming back Tuesday Mike goes to Surgeon on Monday and then have to put back in the van that what I took out that is all stacked up in the spare room and my bedroom have to sort it so will be easier to put back where it belongs Before I forget did anyone watch Andre Rieu in Melbourne I loved it and I will be going next year come hell or high water when he comes back although Mike says "he won't be using Telstra dome again he's messed up the surface something awful "lol" any bye for now love to all and ~~~~~~to anyone didn't mention which is heaps I know sorry back on later today hopefully
Reasonable day in Malbin. Lots of grey and white clouds floating above, but sun poking its head in and out every now and then.
Hz. Glad all is well with Baz. Its a worrying time for all. Best wishes for daughter too....with her exams. I was a bit of a primary school drop out meself....lol ...so leave Sarah's schooling to Barb. I do know my twelve times tables...so i will leave it at that.....hee hee... I'm probably learning more doing Family research ( Geography, History, Spelling, Maths ) than i ever learnt at school.
Merle. Glad to hear you are not housebound anymore. Take care and lotsa hugs mate.
Did a cemetery crawl this morning at Boondara ( Kew ) in Melb. and found the burial place of my great granduncle James Barnes 1856 -1941 who was born in Richmond, Melb. I had found his death on my Vic. cd.Index 1921 to 1985....and downloaded his death cert hoping to find he was married, and any decendant children, but alas he never married. Most interesting was, he was buried in a grave with one of his eight sisters, Georgianna, and her husband and some of his nephews. Quite a large headstone 7ft x 4ft and the writing was reasonably clear enough to take a photo with my mobile phone and email it to myself.... Another case solved.....:>))
Seeing its lunch time i might just heat up some left over spag bolg we had for tea last night. I always make heaps up because i know Sarah is not to fond of it, and there will be left overs in the fridge the next day.........:>))))))))
Best wishes to all.
Hello to everyone from the river.....
Bit hard to watch all that water running amok in Brisbane area when down south we remain so dry. Can't complain about 44 mm here last weekend and another 6 mm overnight, with perhaps more this weekend.
I can finally report that we have been going through a bit of stress medically here, but yesterday OH got the all clear from prostate cancer after having a raised PSA test. Oi started off the whole thing by saying casually, since the doc is going to make you have a cholesterol check dear, why don't you get your PSA level done at the same time? Well, the result was high. So followed biopsy - result all clear. Wait 6 months. Retest PSA : level slightly reduced, no symptoms, decided to wait for another 6 months. Latest test PSA back up, no symptoms, no physical signs, lucky break - drug company funding a trial for which OH fitted into the criteria, hence pelvic MRI done 2 wks ago which supposedly may identify any "hotspots" that the biopsy may miss, then earlier this week another biopsy ( this lot paid for by the drug company !) Result yesterday ALL CLEAR ! If anyone saw the article in Melb Herald Sun last weekend about Dr Harry Cooper and his brush with Prostate cancer, his PSA went from 2 to 4 and he had chemo and radiation for his lump - OH has a PSA level between 19 and 26 and no detectable cancer. Anyway, there it is, we are relieved to say the least.
Merle, sounds like you are finally over the biggest hurdles and can now look forward to feeling good and enjoying life without pain. Congrats on losing so much weight too ! Pity about having to buy new clothes lol ! xoxo
This morning I joined my neighbour walking for an hour !! Hope I can get out of bed tomorrow. D is a tough cookie, she'll drag me out if I don't front on her doorstep on time though! It was fabulous to be out early, I want to continue......
Better finish and get tea on the table. DD is immersed in first term of year 12 and I am pleased at how she is coping. She is most astute regarding the politics of the school and year 12, and has decided she needs to get the most out of the year for herself, not just look good for the school. We are having great discussions relative to her legal studies, drama, art, and extension english courses. On the whole I am not expecting stunning results from her exams next year, but both she and I understand why!! She's not a conformist to the current way of academic thinking, and is doing subjective subjects ...... I did sciences where the answer to a calculation was right or wrong, it's quite different in the humanities. So I'm on a learning curve. I do have to say I think she has some very admirable teachers, but not all. She has progressed to 10 hours of her 120 hours required for driving test...... lots of 5 mins trips to and from daily appointments - she thinks she'll be thirty before she can drive by herself lol !!! It is a disadvantage when we do not go anywhere !
Have to check the chops, already nearly burnt the steamed veg dry !
Love to all, I hope to be able to post more often now things are on an even keel
Guess what????? The blood tests are clear and as of today I'm no longer house bound. YAY!!! Just as well coz my body finally decided to reject any more antibiotic and was a sick girl for a day or two. Couldn't even EAT so there. That doesn't happen too often. Am feeling much better already and able to eat a little. Doc says I'll need to take it slowly for a week or two till I get some strength back. Finally made that all inportant 90% today and start in the pool on Friday. and seeing I'm down from 106kg to 90kg(skite skite ) I don't even mind having to go buy some bathers.Not all I'll have to buy soon, me boulder holders don't fit any more. Mike darling, so sorry to lay it on when you've been patiently ?? waiting so long to get well again. My prayers are with you and Lara, you know that. Hello Wattlers
Gee where does all the days go, oh thats right its getting near Chrissy and time flies around this time of year, or it seems to at least.
Lara mmm thik we have all been in that spot, going shop[ping and standing trying to think what we needed. What a b*** of a trip home you had.
Marie, a lot of people dont seem to like Barry much, maybe he will leave footy and take up boxing, probably be better at it :-0 We have got our own little Bathurst happening here this weekend, with the V8's at Symmons Plains. Have to work out there on the Friday with the Hawks roadshow, so will be able to see a bit, but no V8 racing, I didint get to work on the Sat and Sun, but at least I can sit at home and see it in comfort of home. Also have to go to Bob Jane and get my wheels rotated as I got new tyres a couple of months ago and they do a free rotation, so I booked it in for tomorrow at 9.30, it just so happens a certain "Smiley" will be there fro a meet and greet so might just have to take a mug and get a signature, might even get my Ford dash or steering wheel signed :-)))
Well better get out of here and do a bit more around the place. ~~~~ to June, Cowgirl, Sandra, Mary, Shazz, Vonny, L'oz, Merle, JA and everyone I havent mentioned.
Have a nice day :-) Cheers Sue
Morning all from a lovely wet Adelaide,
Sorry i hav'nt been around much lately, but with work, family etc life has been excedingly busy and we still have the silly season to get through....
Youngest daughter has not been well since July, so is off to the specailist this arvo for a grease and oil change to see if that will improve things......
Both girls have had exams (yrs 11 and 12) so the whole house has been a littel fraught for a few weeks........ yr 12 exams finished yr 11 about to start so I might need my head sown on again over the next few days......Dr Lew some pills please.......
Step son had his 21st over the weekend, it was'nt a bad do although many would not have recgonised it as an "aussie" 21st, not a beer in sight...........
Work is going well although it takes uts toll some weeks, espically when I ma on afternoons and there on call over night, always sleeping with one ear open for the blooming page to go off.......
We wont mention the house building SSSSHHHH we are still meeting with builders to find one who will have a go at the land......
Must away work to be done.... hope you all have a great day
Hello all an extra lotto ticket is on the way 36 lines for this sat so we will have extra with who ever is supposed to buy the ticket this week gets it
Oh Merle you are so right darlin' I want "normal " so much never had it in me life lovie lol as the surgeon said to Mike "Well Mike normally" then she laughed and said "but then again nothing about you is normal "gosh I laughed as I said to her "oh Prue I coulda told you that " he is having another blood test next week and then goes to see Prue and he hopes she says goodbye to him he goes to the physio again tomorrow and he is swimming every day or more or less anyway, more walking and kicking his knee he has good bend now walking without the crutches just takes the stick when out and the only real prob is getting his leg straight pushing it down sort of to go flat on the bed don't know if I told you I offered to sit on it and flatten it on the bed for him he said oh gawd that's all I need woman lol Loz hope your house wasn't in the path of the shocker of a storm that hit parts of queensland last night and today grief it was a like a cyclone Cassie said they just got the rain no hail but some parts were badly damaged so the boys would be ok too I guess . I met my Aunty and two of my cousins for the first time while up in Queensland it was great they are the family of my mum's youngest brother Billy I have three more cousins to meet yet two girls and one boy so looking forward to that .I also met my second cousin once removed his mum was my grandfather's sister my grandfather was the third eldest and his mum was the youngest so he is about my age and he lives at Noosa he and his lovely wife cooked Cassie and I a beautiful lunch and we had a nice time talking up a storm . But still no one has a photo of my grandfather Joseph Smedley darn it's so frustrating .
Fred I will send you a list of some Bairds I found we have a lady on the net who collects all the wrong certificates people buy then realise the person isn't theirs they send them to her and then for one dollar each and a stamped self addressed envelope she send any of them to you that are your people there were heaps of Bairds on there so thought I'd PM them to you in case some might be yours Vonny getting better but wish Iwas with Loz having a lovely head massage etc I can think of nothing nicer except maybe a foot massage oh funny story when I was down at Geelong my friend asked us to tea at her daughter's and when we were about to leave my friends grandson said don't go granny you are your feet sore? Cause you haven't had your foot massage yet, he is five so he makes her sit and have a foot massage and I said oh that's lovely and Lin said it costs me though he gets a gold coin for it and says he likes the smaller ones please meaning two dollars please haha kids !
Ok better get to bed oh oh what's this tied on my finger I know and I can take it off now I remembered lol goodnight all love to all Lara
