Thinking big celebwation thoughts for the wattlers meeting today up north, also hoping Ron that all has gone well for your exhausted daughter and that you are a grandfather again by now ?? ??
Damp weekend and cool too, must say it is energising. Hopped down to Spotlight with DD17, have got to use up our fabric stash and needed some bits to help do so. OH also got heaps of little somethings to make a hedge with in the backyard - he was so pleased that it rained so much, they'll get a good start. Loz you wouldn't recognise the back yard now we've really moved ahead with revamping it. All my spuds are flowering and I'm picking the cherry tomatoes and the climbing beans ( lol found some big ones lurking in the foliage!). Must get shopping this week and should even get to community carols night on Wednesday at this rate. Hope all is well with everybody else lurking ~ ~ ~ Hz

Morning...:>))

Still raining in Melb. and has been since Friday. Although its constantly O/cast and grey skies, its nice to see us getting some decent wet stuff, and probably had more rain in the last 48hrs than we have had all year.

Working my little butt off as we approach the silly season, ( everyone wants everything yesterday )and not getting a lot of time on the net to do research, although for Barb i picked up another convict 4x great grandmother in Tasmania ( Sarah aka Sally Newton born 1798 Salford Lancashire ) who was sent to the Tassie colony in 1822 on board the "Mary 111" and listed at the "Hobart female factory"
That gives her 3 direct Greats as convict settlers now, and two 3 x great cousin convicts sent out as well. I always thought Barb was a crook, but i couldnt prove it until now......LOL
Also picked up another 5x great convict grandad for my grandson on his fathers side. So he now has 4 Convict greats and two first fleeters. ( well documented )

Cant even crack it for gaol bird meself.......My lot were goody two shoes.....:>((((

This is an excellent sight for anyone that had female convicts sent to Tas, and run by a group of ladies in Tassie . ( Female factory research group ) It list just about everyone and anyone that had female ( forename and surname ) convict relos sent to Aussie.
Its also a great read, in general, of our convicts, and lists all the female convict factories in Tasmania ( on-going )

http://www.femalefactory.com.au/

Ron and Carol. Best wishes to daughter and hope new grandie has arrived safely.

Have our 4 grankids coming down next week to walk the streets, and see the Xmas lights decorated on the houses. ( pending the weather )
Christmas carols at our local White horse council to-night, ( a 4min walk from us ) but i feel it will be a wash out, as the area where the 100s of peeps normally sit with their famlies in the council park, is saturated and under water....lol

Jude. Best wishes for a "Sale" at Alexandra. Barb and her sisters have received an offer on her mums place ( yesteday ) and they are going to take it.

Bacon and eggs sizzling away in the pan, and the smell tells me their ready....:>)))

Best wishes to all who are not 100%.

Merry Christmas!

Allo, Allo - do you remember me then? lol

I (shamefacedly) haven't been in for a while, and everything has changed - completely.

could someone who is retired, explain how each and every day disappears quicker than when one is working full time? BTW what is retired?

Never been busier since our enforced retirement, cottage is on the market and on real estate.com.au - if you want a peek - Alexandra, Vic. $250,000 - 260,000 bracket -34 Bayley St. This is what 3 years of hard graft has achieved lol. I will be so sad to say goodbye to it, however if you wan't it - its yours! lol

Merle glad to see you are feeling spry, keep up those skate boarding lessons.
Ron hope the new bubs has made its arrival and DD is okey dokey. How is grandad feeling?

HZ busy as usual, what a find on the Kiwi front - yippee

How is our lovely Lara and Mike? mwah to you both

Hope the BBQ is ok tomorrow and they don''t get rained out.Couldn't get there, as its our DD's 33rd birfdy (and we have missed too many over the last 10 years - while she has been travelling around - not to be in Melbourne for this one) best bit is her OH is doing the catering! and not me.

Will look in again soon ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ooo roo

Ok - finally made it.

Hope you have a good day today L'Oz and are not too worn out.

it is raining (lightly) here this morning HZ so I hope that means that you got it first. We really needed it as it has been cloudy here but no rain for a while and i was shocked to see how much of my front garden and lawn had died.

Expecting Daphne from the Uk to visit next week and i think the front will have a very "Australian look" - ie bare and brown!

Going to have a look around.

Oh my gosh, this is a bit different!!

Hello everyone, last day of school year today for DD17, she
cycled down the street and worked 2 hrs on the front counter to help us out this arvo as we were so busy I couldn't even get away to speech morning, it has been frantic all week.

I think we are organized for xmas, just have to accumulate all the bits we have decided on. I think my sister and partner are coming from Adelaide.

I had a delightful discovery this week via Ancestry, and as some of you may know my OH is a proud Kiwi. Well it appears I have an ALL-BLACK in MY family tree pmsl ! From around 1900 - I am drafting an email to the Ancestry contact to nail it all down lol. Now we have to go the the All-Black museum in Wellington and I'll be only too happy to do so ! OH was very amused ! I always thought this particular bloke's father had emigrated somewhere, as he simply disappeared after 1851, but I never ever found him in Australia with his cousins, and now he has popped up in NZ. Once again, the young men all left home leaving their sisters in the UK. Life must have been very difficult in the UK during 1845 - 1865 as so many males emigrated....

Here's hoping we get the predicted rain down south here this weekend, it would be marvellous to add to the dams. I have promised to get the sewing machine out this weekend, to run up some summer dresses, DD is suddenly interested in fashion and tired of her jeans and sneakers - so she wants to learn to sew! She has been googling some funky fashions and is determined to be a bit "different" - the things she likes look very 60's to me - just my period of fashion expertise as it turns out LOL ! I've got all my paper patterns from back then too - this could end up being real FUN ! I've even got fabric stashed .......

Better go and get some steak under the grill as OH will be home after a very long day soon - Elmer Fudd realises of course that the govt gets gst every time the dollars turn over, no wonder he wants us to spend spend spend.....

Hope the week has been kind to all, mwah, Hz
