Morning....:>))
And a very beautiful sunny morning it is to in Melbin. Expecting a top of 30c plus for the next 4 days, so will be spending it in the vege garden, which is thriveing wth the warmer weather.
Had planted out my summer seedlings earlier this year, as i well remember last summer 2008 with 48c plus and hot winds, that burnt everything to a crisp.....including our beautiful Camelia trees ( sob ) So this weekend will cover my Vegie garden with shade cloth. Normally.......we who live further down south ( Melban and surrounding suburbs ), get a bit cooler weather in summer than our Country Victorian neighbours in central and northern Victoria.....but last summer was a warning that things are changeing, and we are told to expect the same Temps again this summer. The pool is getting a good thourough cleaning in preperation too.....lol
Shazza. Like you said mate, i also had been spending to much time on other sites, and my F.H was suffering. Ancestry AU & U.K , Face book , My space , MSN, SGR , GR , F.Re-united , Tribal Pages ,....i found i was coming home from work, sitting down in my study on the puter, and then discovering it was 2:00am in the morning, and nearly time to get up for work......LOL.....soooo something had to give way...... as i was forgetting my better halves first name........hee hee We were like ships in the night, and only gave each other a wave when we passed each other in the kitchen to get a coffee.....:>))
All three daughter's coming over this evening with grandies for a B.B.Q tea, so best get off the puter and go give it a clean.
Carole. My Richardson ( my mothers side ) came from Leeds. My Copley family were also from York ( my dads mother ) My 2x great grandad Richardson came to Melbourne in the 1850s and set up a bootmakers shop in Fitzroy ( Melb Suburb ) Barb and myself stayed in Leeds & York ( among others )a few years ago when we did an ancestor search........ and we loved Yorkshire in general.....but then again, i should love Yorkshire.......my last name is HULL......:>))) ( My Lot were from Essex, Yorkshire, Durham, Lancashire, Wiltshire,.....and a couple of stragglers in and around London greater.
Have a great day/night to all.
Tony....:>))

Hello Wattlers Long time since I replied on here, seem to spend so much time on other sites when I do come on, that I never find time to enter her
Hi Jood, nice to see you
Sir Tones, youve been very quiet of late, all AOK down your way
Had the lovely Lara, DIY and Ken stay last week for Lews funeral, good to catch up, but sad it had to be such a sad occasion for a get together
Loz, have fun up home, and have a good time with the little Mason

Hi Tony
Thanks for the welcome, also for sharing your wonderful memories of your lovely friend Lewella, she sounds like a lovely lady..so sorry for your loss.
I grew up in Melbourne, but know live in the outer suburbs, between Ballarat and Melbourne, so we kind of neighbors:-)) I am an ex pommie born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. My family migrated in 1966, just before my fifth birthday..so my memories of the old country are nil.
Take care ;-))

Hi Carole. Welcome to the Wattlers thread. I'm a Victorian too....Melbournian.
Nice to see a few faces on the thread, and many i have seen around the various boards on GR. since 2003 - 2004
This is the 4th Wattler thread since 2004 and still going strong. Many people since it began ( Aussies and our U.K cousins ) have come and gone from this thread, or now left GR
Our Lew was a good friend and fellow Geno of the Wattle group and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Born in my home town of Melbourne, and as a kid grew up in the same suburb as myself until her family moved away. I had once said to Lew that we had probably passed each other in the street in the late 60s. ..although i wouldnt have known her back then, as she would have only been a kid, and myself in my late teens,or early 20s. Jokeingly....I had said to Lew she was probably the kid that threw stones at my car, or gave cheek hanging off the front gate as we teenagers walked by. We had discovered that her elder sister, and my younger brother had gone to the same primary school. Now living in central N.S.W....Lew had asked me if i would kindly take a Photo of the house she grew up in, as i stil live in the same area. Which i did, and posted it to her, much to her delight, as she was not sure if the house was stil there. Then we found we shared the same parental surname of Richardson, and would have a joke occasionally about her lot from Scotland and mine from Yorkshire Eng....and how my Richardson's were better than hers....lol
The second group all up Wattler Aussie meet, was held at her home in country N.S.W..... and she welcomed us with open arms,( about 25 Wattlers and spouses ) and even provided the entertainment to which she sang songs ( Karaoke style ) and then provided us with her own exhibition on how to Pole dance one handed while holding a glass of bubbly in the other...lol Later on that evening came an exhibition of water Ballet ( fully dressed but stiil holding onto her glass of bubbly ) in her lap pool, much to the delight and applause, laughter, from Wattler onlookers. I remember well the next morning, when we all gathered for lunch at one of her favourite restaurant ( Deebs Kitchen ) and Lew sat there with dark sunglasses on....lol...... Probably to hide bloodshot eyes from the night before, me thinks..?????? Lew was a character, and a more fun loving person would be hard to find. She called a spade a spade, and gave as good as she got.
Lew also desighned a Wattle calender 2009 and added birthday dates of the Wattlers, then sent a copy of it to all she knew in the group. Down the bottom of the front cover it says..." A Pritheth Lew Lew Production!".....I have a copy pinned to my study wall.
A great love for F.History..... and a greater love for her friends.
To quote a saying: Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

Wattlers all say thank you for coming in to talk about our lovely Lew, always full of fun and lip but always there in any way she could be. A person like Lew comes our way only once, intensely private but always there with care concern and a big funny quip if we needed one :) Blessings all Joy missed you but another time x JA
