Morning all from a chilly wet and windy day in B B Q land ,yep ,we are baack to normal :-S. It all wen't well considering ,no Oak chippings for the smoking ofr the fish ,B & Q ,have stopped doing it ,disgusting i calls it getting hundreds of people to buy the tools from them ,and then refusing to stock the small stuff to keep customers coming back for supplies ,very short business sense in my view, and i will seek pastures new from now on. Went to Morrisons next ,to get the best snags around ,very meaty ,tasty ,low in fat with no rubbish or gristle in and ditto the burgers, both steak ,and pork. Brought a bit of other stuff along with some fresh eggs ,because we were low. Unpacked every thing when i got home ,and started to put the eggs ,from the cardboard box ,into the wire hen bowl we have ,and got halfway through the chore before i got distracted by the missus ,asking me if i wanted a drink ? i ask you ,out for shopping for two hours on me own ,lathered ,and tired .of COURSE i would like a drink :-S. Any way ,i turn back to the job in hand ,thinking ahead to the next job ,then wake up in this world to find i had returned all the eggs but one back into the cardboard box :-( he he ,i don't beleiiiiive it . At least ,senior moment behind me ,it all went well ,the young un's on the loungers set up on the lawn, the missus under the parasol ,at the table away from the sun [at least ,i think it was the sun ,,lol, seen it so little this year i am beginning to wonder :-\ The other grandson Chris ,went home last night ,but is coming back today after we have finished the shopping ,but has been warned ,NO B B Q today lad ,i need the day off to rest ,he he after three hours cooking at the burners ,cap on head to protect the big centre parting ,and the clearing up afterwards i am off duty today so there . Have a good weekend all ,catch you later ,Fred :-D.

Morning :-)
Fred. That BBQ does sound nice :-) Our bar-bie has the cover put on it now and tucked away for the winter, but your posting makes me long for our summer..lol
Off to the dear ol mums this morning to do some concreteing. Her driveway is starting to feel the years, and slowly buckling up under the the stress of car traffic, aussie winters and summers over the last 50 years. Need to rip it up in places, reform it....any lay more concrete.
Nine or ten weeks to go before we head north and off the Aussie continent for Thailand :-) I'm packed...........3 pairs of shorts, sandals ,shaving gear, and thats me done packed....lol Mind you though, i have to pack all this in a very large suitcase ( orders from the Mafia.... aka Barb ) so madame can fill it to the brim with goods purchased for the return trip......hee hee
Bacon & eggs are calling me for breakfast, so wishing all a great weekend however you spend it.
Av a good un.
Tony... :-D

Just a quick one to say hello to all before i leave to get the bits in for the B B Q i have promised my grandson ,and his wife ,before they go back to Lyneham camp. I have to get some oak chippings ,so that i can smoke the chicken breast strips, some cumberland and Lincolnshire snags. and other stuff. I then have to make Sag ,Aaloo ,and Bombay potatoes along with a few marinades for meats ,and fish. The B B Q will be over four hours or so ,because i intend enjoying the weather ,while it holds lol :-) I wonder if i have any Barnes tribe over in Wiltshire from the past ,could be interesting to have a look see . Hope all are having a good weekend wherever you are ,Fred. :-D

Evening.. :-)
Nuther cold ol day in Melbourne. Sun popped out about 10am but it hardly was worth the wait. ( No warmth )
First day of Winter to-morrow ( 1st June Oz time ) an will be a birthday boy again 14 days into the month. Some bloke rang this arvo doing a survey on travel, so i thought i would help him out. Dont do many surveys over the phone as the questions can get to personal, and i told him i would happily do it, but wont answer to personal imformation. The survey was about travelling from mainland Aussie to Tasmania, and basically about the "Spirit of Tasmania" ship/ferry that travels between Victoria and Tassie. Bit like the ferry between Dublin and Wales, although...the Spirit of Tasmania is a liner. We were going through the questions on a scale of 1 to 10 and we came to the part where he asked me "What age group am i..!!!! " ..13 to 20 ( nup )....20 to 30 ( nup ).....30 to 40 ( nup)....40 to 50 ( nup ) by now i was starting to realise i was getting on up the youth ladder, and said to him..."Ya getting close"...lol........60 to 70....Yup i said thank god, as there isnt to many decades left....LOL :D It was then i realised, i dont wanna do birthdays anymore.......lol
3rd eldest daughter is in London at the moment on her European tour with best girlfriend from her school days. 25 day/night from 25th May till 19th June travelling. Left Melbourne on 25th May for Dubia, then to Spain, and arrived London yesterday. From here its London to Paris,(Ferry ) then Paris to Switzerland, then to Rome Italy, then Venice....then off to Austria and Germany, then Amsterdam, and back to London, Singapore, and home to Aussie.. :-) This is her first trip O/seas....and wouldnt you know it, she found out she was pregnant in late April....so i hope for her sake no morning sickness on her trip of a life time....poor kid....lol This will be her 3rd child, so i guess she knows what to expect. Hope the waters are not to rough and rocky on her ferry trip from London to Paris... ;-)
Well the suns gone down 5-30 pm so time to turn the heating up a notch, and see what magical performance i can knock up for tea, as the better half is working her fingers off out in the salon.
Av a good un
Tony :D

Good morning all ,seeing as so many people expected a Badger avitar ,i have found a pic ,of said Badger,a grey one ,as it shows it's age ,the same as me ,lol.:-) No pic of me in a goldfield though ,they take a dim view in Wales if you invade the mining area with a pick ,or detector ,he he,you lucky lot ,spoilt for choice ,you are, :P I took the wife out yesterday ,along with the grandson ,and she spotted one of these new Rotary clothes lines which has four arms instead of three ,meaning more hanging space in the same area as the three arm version. That's for me says the missus ,so ,sigh i hauls out the wallet ,shakes the moths out,he he,and says [are you sure this is the size you need ,] so as she says yes ,i buy it for her ,but getting home we find that the pole is a lot bigger ,grrrrrr :D so i say to the wife [what part of are you sure it's the size that you want ,don't you understand] :-(. How ever ,me ,and Sean set too in the pouring rain to sink in a new pole liner ,to which i add some mortar mix,so we now have to wait another couple of days until it all hardens up. If this is no good ,i will dig a square hole after lifting the turf, sink a new metal spike in the ground ,cement it in ,refill the hole ,and replace the turf. These women can be a lot of hassle ,lol, good job i love the old biddy ,he he. The contractors have finished the roof ,repointed the chimney ,so all is finished apart from the waterproofing over the chimney to complete the job. Now ,if anything happens up there it's up to the contactors to do the repair free of charge for ten years, other than hurricane damage ,of course. The garden is going great ,only a couple of replacement veggies ,and two herb bushes to go in ,and i am done, apart from feeding growing ,and of course ,eating them he he. After much T L C ,even the diseased [as was] Tree is showing signs that it may still be alive ,so i may yet land up with Two nectarine trees which will gve us a wide range of fruit's throughout the growing season.. Getting near the weekend again ,all ,so i hope the holiday weekend kicks off well for you all, here ? ,huh ,wouldn't you know it ,rain ,rain and yet more rain ,he he ,just a normal holiday in Blighty . :-) Fred

Morning from a cold and wet Melbourne.
Work has gone a bit quite at the moment, but not unusual for this time as it moves towards end of financial year ( Taxation )
Marie. I used to love going out and do a bit of fossicking around the Vic. goldfields. It was more for recreation rather than a get rich quick...lol Mind you we did find our fair share, but nothing to make us instant millionaires ( Drat )......lol There are still the die hards finding heaps of gold in them thar hills, with all the new technologly detectors these days, but like all professional gold seekers once they find something decent they keep it to themselves until they do a thorough clean up.....then they announce it to the newspapers 6 months later. ie: "Big nugget found at such and such town"......and the rush is on. The small towns love it, as it brings tourism and dollars. I still have my very first nugget found at "Whipstick" near Bendigo 1970s and have it framed on my wall. ( about the size of small fingernail ) The second was gold in Qaurtz which hold more value................not because its bigger, but gold found in quartz is a little more rare, and more valuable to a collector. We sluiced the Goulburn river and tributary's from Mansfield down to Marysville, panned the Bendigo creek, and metel detected the Golden triangle in our younger years. When my best mate and partner in crime BIL passed away in the 90s i stopped going out..........but it was great fun, and great memories. I had hoped that now he was beyond the pearly gates he might have a little more throw with some added devine intervention, and lead me to the mother lode....but alas, not to be.....lol :-)
Mary. Love ya knew name mate. Seems very fitting....hee hee
Yvette. Your not connected to the surname SHAW in Surrey are you? We have just found Barbs 3x great grandad living in Redruth, Conwall on the 1841...with his birth place listed as..... Ewell on Thames, Surrey. His son was born in Redruth and maried a girl from St.Day ( Gwenap ) Cornwal and they immigrated to Victoria in 1857 and they were Copper Miners.
Wishing all a great weekend.
Av a good un
Tony :-)
