Hi Guys and gals. Not a great improvement as yet. See Doc and get test results so I'll let you know tomorrow. Good work Lara, and who but Ser Tones could give us a welcome like that? Well, the first long year has passed into oblivion, time to turn and look towards the sun. Not always easy but we'll try. Thanks to you all once again for your support and friendships made. Couldn't have done it without you. Am feeling decidedly stir crazy after over four weeks out of circulation. Hope I'll at least be allowed to go somewhere else other than Physio after tomorrow. Am on crutches too. I'd rather have my trusty walker but physio won't hear of it.It's VERY hard to be constantly doing as I'm told as you will all imagine! Noeline is back at work, but attends to my night meal. I wouldn't let her help me before but she just came in one night and said No more mum, you can just put up with getting help or I'll ask the doc to put you in hospital. so of course I sit happily back and let her go for it. It really was too much for me but theres always a silver lining. I've dropped a stone and I aint looking for it either..See ya luv Me

Evening..:>))
Started out a reasonably sunny Sunday in Melb. and got to about 27c. Went out to water Vegie patch, and the skies opened up and it poured down...lol
Have kids and grandkids coming down for a Melbourne Cup B.B.Q on tuesday. A few friends also popping over, and we will run our own small Melb Cup sweepstake as we do each year. Traditionally we also write up the chris cringle list, and put names in a hat to be drawn by someone to see who buys what for whom at Christmas. Because there are quite a few of us on Chrissie day Tea ( about 35 this year ) we limit to $30 per person.
Hz. Glad you enjoy the little ditties i make up....lol I enjoy writing them, and it just makes for a bit of fun. I do love reading poetry, from some of our own great Aussie poets, and two books i have left to me by my father ( who also enjoyed Poetry so my mother tells me ) were "The Poetical works of Robert Burns" and another by "Ella Wheeler Wilcox" ...who also phrased the term: "Laugh and the world laughs with you; Weep, and you weep alone"........ Never a true word written.
Merle. Hugs for you, and glad you have some help from Noeline. I love your last line....lol "Iv'e dropped a stone and i aint looking for it"...hee hee......... I might be able to use that in one of my Limericks.....:>)))

Hello To All, Had to look through a few pages to find our new home. Hope things are looking up for those with crook knee's. Sorry to hear of your friends passing Lew, so tragic with a young baby. Not a bit interested in Christmas this year (no reason really) Going to see My Fair Lady later in the month a present to each other for our anniversary last week 43 years this year. 18 year old Grandson is getting engaged this month we all think he is silly, too young these day's. Have had a couple of good contacts via hot matches this week always good when that happens.
Well ~~~~~~~~~~ to all and enjoy your Melbourne Cup day Tues. Cheers Sandra in the Gong

Woot, had a mini-meet with Lara and Mike today, they arrived at just the right time for me to “escape” work for a lovely chat. Mike looks great, walking with only one stick and a big grin, says he is getting better every day. He is in charge while Lara heads off to Cassies for a break after all that on call duty as nurse in residence! She seemed to have had an excellent foraging trip amongst the family memories down south and also has a few contacts to make up north, including a 91 yr old cousin, very exciting to find him. She was looking fwd to seeing Cassie and having the break away also! Well I did nicely in the two sweeps I was in yesterday and got a second and a third, bit of fun. Some of our customers had a good day – couple of blokes couldn’t think who to bet on in the Cup so took a mystery trifecta and won sixteen thousand !! But overall I think it was a bookies day. Still waiting for rain here, all the cloud built up today then moved on. OK I want to see some of the commentary about the US election tonight – I liked McCains speech I think he is a decent man and was honest in what he said. It will be six to nine months before any big changes can happen, and it will be interesting to see Obama and the new congress can shift anything in the area of health. So many vested interests. From my 5 yrs in Washington DC (1980-1985) I have one friend who moved from New Jersey to Montana and is a terrified republican who thinks the muslims will now rush into the USA en masse and make her wear a veil, and another whose lawyer son back then was working for this brand new energetic Senator Joe Biden – don’t know if he still is, but I heard great things about Biden back then, and now he’s Vice President. Gosh I’d adore to go back now and re-meet all the interesting people I came across back then, it was a great city to be part of for a while. Cuppa waiting, nite all, ~~ Hz

Evening.
Had a great day for Melbin Cup. Our B.B.Q went down well with the kids and grandies, although by the end of the day it was nice to wave goodbye....lol Love me kids and grandies, but love me peace and quite too....:>))
Didnt have a bet on the TAB this year ( first time ) but we did run our own small sweepstake at home for the Cup. Dear old mother picked "Viewed" out of the hat at the Bar-bie, and son in law got 2nd with myself as a 3rd place getter. A whole $10 i won.....lol Think that will buy me about 6 litres of petrol.
Daughter number two ( Kizza ) had laid $2 each way on Viewed at the Tab, so earnt a few bucks for her $4....and that put a smile on her dial all day.
Dont bet much these days on the donkeys myself, and hardly ever at all now........... but as a young bloke in my 20s & 30s i was a bit of a devil with the gee gee's. Horse races,Trots & Greyhounds, Mid week and weekends, and used to get a rap over the knuckles ( ouch ) from my now dearly departed wife....lol Rather spend it on a BDM cert now. My word...... how things have changed from me bad ol days....hee hee
Best wishes and healthy thoughts to all who need e'm.
Tony ...:>))

Morning....:>))
Sunny sunday in Melbin.
Had quite a nice bit of rain since friday, and done our front garden and Vegies a world of good. We have put a lot of effort into the front garden this year with removing 3 old gum trees, and adding new fencing and building new garden borders. The new plants we added are mainy a variety of roses and many different coloured geraniums ( as they are hardy ) and some creepers, so the rain was welcome to get them established. Our two water tanks benefitted also.
Annabel. Nice to see you pop in, and have a great trip to Oxfordshire, and enjoy your Christmas too.
Welcome to Marie from Bathurst.
Caught up with an old mate from 50 years ago, when he rang me while trawlling through the telephone directory. Havent spoken or seen each other for 50 years.....As young 9-10 year olds growing up in Abbotsford/Richmond inner suburbs of Melbourne with other childhood friends. Last time we saw each other we were swimming in the Yarra river as kids, and riding/herding sheep into there pens at the Burnley slaughter yards for a penny.....lol Back in the 50s you could swim the Yarra, but i wouldnt recommend it now days ( polution ). I did remind him, that he still owes me threepence that i lent him back in 1956 and that it has accumalated interest somewhat since then.........hee hee We are going to pick a pub to meet up somewhere in our old stamping grounds in Richmond, and i told him i will waver the threepence if he shouts the first 3 rounds of beer. ( fair deal i reckon )
Hope eveyone has a great day.
Tony....:>)))

I did my apprenticeship in Richmond opposite the the old post office I think the salon is now a pizza shop its on the cnr of Botherambo Lane or st . There is afew pubs there mate is theold riverside still there ? and we did alot of publicans hair like the owner of the Cricketers Arms and the Cnr pub on the other cnr of Botherambo St and then there are about three aren't there opposite the MCG there was also one just past the railway bridge but think its been turned into a nightclub oh memories of running to catch the train home to Oakleigh and the workers who worked at the seafood factory were allowed to take as many prawns as they could eat but some smuggled them out and ate them and threw the remains under the bridge not real good first thing in the morning coming to work when they had been there all night especially when I was having Melissa I was crook enough after the red rattler ride lol going to have lunch with my mum's youngest brother's daughters and their mum on Wednesday before coming home Thursday so that will be great have never met them at all found them thru genes reunited too / Hi ya shazzer what you been up to girl thought you defected on us woman hows the O/H is he getting plenty of work stilland is he well ? Lara. If he's any mate of mine, he should be barracking for the Magpies....lol But i havent seen him in 50 years, but it will be interesting to see who he supports ( Footy wise )
Yes. i know Botherambo street well ( crn of Swan st. ) I was born crn of Church street and Gipps st, so only a stone throw from Botherambo. Went to Saint-ic's, as we called it ( St. Ignatius on the Hill ) like all kids of cafflick mothers.....lol I was sent there because Jack Dyer and Kevin Sheedy went to school there "Richmond footballer greats" ( My mother being in love with Captain Blood himself ) and when she found out that myself and younger brother finished up barricking for Collingwood, she wiped us outa the Will......:>)))....so we send her a Magpie feather in an envelope each time the Collingwood Magpies beat the Richmond Tigers to this day. ( Tradition ) My mum lived on the crn of Vale st and Punt rd 1920s as a kid ( Up from Richmond Footy oval ) and then to Richmond Tce ...just across the Road from Tiger land ( Footy oval ) Bridge Rd. and Swan street were our main shopping area, and after moving across to Abbotsford area i sold papers crn Hoddle and Victoria street. My Aunt ran two pubs The National and the Lincoln back then. Little did i know as a kid growing up in Richmond/Abbotsford that my Great, Great Grandparents from Lancashire and Wiltshire settled in Swan st in the 1850s, and my other set of of Great, Great Grandparents from Yorkshire settled in Jolimont,Richmond and Collingwood and also lived in Swan street in the 1860s......all but 1 mile away from where i was born Gipps and Church st. Funny thing about it all was daughter number 3 ( now 30 years of age ) ran away from home when she was 16 ( like most teenagers do...lol ) for two weeks. We were living in Wantirna then ( new estate ) and a few years ago at a B.B.Q i asked daughter where did she run away to back then. She said. Richmond, and i laughed. Where abouts in Richmond did you stay... i said. Rowena pde at a friends place, she said ( Opposite Richmond footy ground )...... Nearly keeled over backwards laughing....because Rowena Pde was where my mum was born......LOL Talk about keeping it in the family........:>)))
Tony......:>)) * Think i was meant to do this Family tree thing *

Marie from Bathurst, Hello to Lara and thanks for your invite, pleased to meet you all,I'm afraid I cant write poetry but enjoyed yours Tony. when I was married in1962 we went to Melbourne to live ,my husband was in the P.M.G.as it was called then, we lived in Smith St.on the Fitzroy side of the Street. We came from Rockhampton and had never seen a game of Aussie Rules, but we were rapt with the game and were Collingwood supporters. I had 6 children while living in Vic 3 boys& 3 girls. The boys all played Aussie rules Sean and Ryan have only just retired from the game,my son in law is still playing first grade for the Bathurst Bushrangers and also plays in the masters games ,he is a devil for punishment. My other Son Michael lives in Castlemain. I think I have wattled on enough for my first visit. Good night to you all Marie. By the way I am a Swans supporter. night.M.
