I've been reading and chuckling over the afternoon as I get the work caught up. And saying Awww, and also being glad to hear stories people have told me about their mums, and dads (here and by PM).

I'd like to show my mum what nice people I know ... but everybody'd have to edit their posts first, or my sister would be busted. It's gonna be tough enough to bite my own lip!

(I also don't know when she's gonna tell her daughters anything, them being 10 and 12. And I don't think she's told the second brother, what with them not speaking and all ... aargh ...)

My Dad's just about to go through his second cycle of chemo next week. I went to visit him yesterday, drank his tea, ate his biscuits etc etc... Before I left he said to me:

"I've not lost any hair yet, but I haven't had to shave for the last few days"

"Be positive Dad," says I, "you'll get an extra five minutes in bed AND save a fortune on razor blades"

Every cloud and all that.

All the best Janey. Keep your chin up - or in my case, CHINS.

Good luck!

Janey..... you know I will be thinking of you and hoping for positive results from your Mum's biopsy.

It goes without saying that I wish your sister the minimum of side effects with her treatment...but I've said it anyway.

Tell your mum and sister that they have done a grand job in moulding your character, that you are articulate, witty, sassy, and sometimes not as tough a nut as you like to appear!...and it is down to them :)

Re medical family history...my 'aunt' Peg (no blood relation married my mums first cousin) delights in reminding me that MY family are susceptible to Cancer, TB, heart failure (my dad died aged 43 so I am already on borrowed time now) etc etc ......if I were to listen I would have given up long ago ;) however we all have to die of something..... the important thing is to live before you die :)

Hope all goes well for you all..... and since I don't mind being bitten ( ! ) ... here's a (((hug))) anyhow ...

Oh poodles!! (Or is s*** allowed?)

You and your family have all my best wishes... and of course I will tell your mum how incisive your wit and intelligence is - I have been unhurt, as I don Kevlar and full NBC kit prior to entry on your threads ;¬), and I will tell her how it took us a little while to winkle out your squishy soft centre... we had to jag you with a few safety pins first!!

(For the uninitiated, a winkle is a mighty tasty tiny crustacean, which you have to hook out of it's shell carefully after boiling it furiously for x number of minutes... not to everyone's taste, but I love them, lol)

I will also send you (((((((hugs))))))) and kisses... well, I know you're not going to be able to dodge 'em... I am soooo good at hugs and kisses, lol... and of course, I know you could never bring yourself to delete ;¬))

Seriously.... pass on my very best wishes to your mum and sister, and there are many here will hold you in their thoughts.... in spite of your kicking and screaming!

Love

Hey, lady, you take care, and just enjoy the time with your Mum and your sister, as best you can acting like you normally do, how good an actress are you?
Well I say a pretty good one cos you had us all fooled for a long time that your were a hardhearted b***h who knew it all. Now we know you are 'just' a highly intelligent caring person with a very soft centre and a great sense of humour. Hope all your strengths help you through this time and hope your Mum and your Sis get through their troubles and come out raring to go again.
Will be thinking about you, safe travelling and a thumbs up instead of a hug.

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 1 Oct 2008 04:22

I hope that all goes well on your visit with the family.
Drive carefully.

On a positive note. Last year my Mum had to do the five week radiation thing Monday to Friday for five weeks. She went to Calgary on a Sunday and came home on a Friday. All turned out well, except her one boob is redder than the other and "warm". Of course she had to show me and my daughter. What a thing for a then 19 year old to see.....the breast of a sixy nine year old woman. I'm sure she had nightmares for weeks ;)

Enjoy the time with your Mum and Sister.

Deb

ps What kind of Miss Vickies?
Also, could they have at least found a Canadian actor to play Stephen, Audreys son. He has an American accent and he is supposed to be Canadian. Maybe the producers thought noone would notice :0)
