Hey, I don't have central heating over here. ;)

I went for the "switch from oil" rebate when I reno-ed back in '84. Electric baseboard heaters. When I get around to initiating an appeal of my property taxes occasionally and we get to the "what kind of furnace do you have" part of the initial over-the-phone review, and I say I don't, I get a couple of hundred knocked off the bill right then.

It works for us though. Three-storey house with a good number of rooms, and we just sit in the living room. The downstairs being unfortunately open plan. But heavy curtains across all the doorways, and this year I'm going to curtain off the kitchen from the living-dining, and we just have to heat where we are, and leave the others closed up. Mind you, it takes two days to warm up the room my mum stays in when she visits to where you don't see your breath. ;)

No.1 paid the heat bills in advance for the house and my office today (I do the same here -- electric heat one room, keep the oil furnace on very low for the rest). I like to pay in advance because of my irregular billing and bill-paying habits.

He put $3350 on them. Bit of an odd number ... about 1700 pounds, I guess. Should cover most of the winter, but who knows?

Anyhow -- we keep it cool still, where we are sitting -- not much above 60 -- and I get Reynaud's attacks all the time. Just fingers so far. I'm waiting for the Union Jack nose ...

Phew. Here I thought I was going to need ... embraces.

Just be sure s/he remembers the brave Janey Canuck of the West. And of course his/her dear departed daddy.

And don't forget the nosewarmer in those chilly British houses of yours. Reynaud's runs in the family, and a nose turning white and blue and red, well, it might be patriotic, but I think people would point and laugh.

JaneyCanuck Report 24 Sep 2008 22:12

ALL RIGHT.

The prize goes to: (Paul) Sodd ... how in the heck do you spell it anyhow?

Okay, the entry in question got it right, it's just me.

Sodom and Gomorrah.

Now Fish has to get together with Art and Paul and do a duet-y thing like they did with Scarborough Fair and the evening news or however that went.

God is Feeling Groovy!

Pick yer prize, Jax.

If I disappear suddenly, it's because my whole system crashed, just so's you know what happened. At least we'll hope that's what happened.

Anybody who still wants the mp3 - and who could not want such a rare treat - remind me / tell me yr email address.

No returns, no exchanges, no complaints to the management. Order at your own risk.

Well, we watch Graham Norton. Does that count? ;)

Tenashus D just sounds like a, er, hip-hop artiste. But I think I may know better somewhere in the back of my mind. Once I get out of this horrorshow IE I'll go youtubing.
