Oh do read them, you are so lucky. I have just one letter my Dad wrote to my Mum and reading it made me see them as people rather than just my parents. How have you resisted?

I would be inclined to read them.

But

My next door neighbour has a very special letter between herself and her husband which she does not want any of the family to read. I did say to her many years ago that if she wanted to bequeath it to me in a sealed brown envelope I would burn it after she has gone without opening it. Although said to her was intrigued. We both laughed.

I envy you that delemma Joy. Why not open just 1 to see what it says and if you feel uncomfortable reading it then either pass them over to Stray or destroy them.

I couldn't NOT read them. You are so lucky and whether there are some things that might make you uncomfortable you are so lucky to have the opportunity to share their feelings.

Read them Joy not only may they contain family history info and an insight to the time they may give you some happiness being able to see your parents words to each other.

I know it did me when I read my parents letters and cards xx

I HAVE OVER 200 LETTER BELONGING TO MY PARENTS
JUST AFTER WAR
I HAVE HAD THEM OVER 35 YEARS
MY PARENTS ARE BOTH DEAD AND
I HAVE NEVER HAD TO COURAGE TO READ THEM
BUT THINK OF THE FAMILY HISTORY
THAT MAY BE WRITTEN IN THEM
THE SECRETS AND GOSSIP
SHOULD I TAKE A PEEK
OR LEAVE THEM ALONE
IN THE TATTY OLD BOX
YOU DECIDE
