goodmorning rain again and the temperature was only 2 degree,s when I woke up but now the sun is trying to shine through, I am going to pop out and vote to-day in the advance poll though I have to confess I did not watch the debate in english last night I watched the debate between the vice presidential candidates , I also have been very conflicted in our election as to whom to vote for this has never happened to me before I usually have my mind made up I sometimes vote for a person not always the party, in speaking to many of my friends I heard that a lot of them were considering not voting this time around and that surprised me as I think I come from a generation that takes the vote as a real gift I remember my grandmother telling me about the first time she could legally as a woman vote and how proud she was, sorry did not mean to natter on have a good week-end everyone bye dorothy

So excited, must tell somone.. finally got a little lead on my Canadian family search.. A very kind lady has been doing some searching in Canada for me and found that my relatives are from the Brooks area, and if her research is right John was the first policeman in Brooks according to a local book, I'm so pleased to be able to at least get it down to an area, she has also told me where they are burried. Does anyone know if Cyr is a common name in Canada, as I now also know the married name of one of their daughters!! Sorry to rattle on, its just so good to have found something out!!! Hope everyone is keeping well and looking forward to the weekend.... Bye ...

Hi Gang,
Yes Dorothy it has been very hot here maybe up to 28 yesterday so maybe bring layers and then you can take it off or put it on.
We are leaving today to start our trek home. I still haven't chattted to teresa.....oh well sorry...it has been a bit of a whirl, never less than 7 for dinner each evening, lots of laughter etc.etc.
Bella has visited with Kathy's dogs and they all like each other and play all day. I think our Belle will be quite lonesome for awhile...maybe we should have another dog....Norm (and the computer!!!) says NO!!!

Hi all
Christine, yes I would say you are missing something in the address, there should be at least a town/city and maybe even a suburb. For instance there is a Hobart Road but it is not in the city of Hobart it is in Launceston which is at the opposite end of the state. At least as you said you still have contact with them via email so thats good.
Well our 2 visitors, Davids boys have gone back to their Mum and our house is getting back to normal, mmm not sure exactly what normal is :-)
I off for the weekend to another state of Australia as in Victoria to go to a function, which Im really excited about, David is staying home to watch my girls , not that they need a lot of looking after now as they are 17 and 14.
Edith, my favourite time of the year is Autumn too, with all the lovely colours, I dont do heat very good, but I could be quite happy with Autumn/Winter all year round :-)
Well must do some housework today so I dont go away and leave a messy house for my darling to clean, after all he does work all week and I dont apart from housework :-)
Have a nice day. Cheers Sue

I have had a sore throat for 3 weeks at least and in the end the doc sent me to a specialist and would you believe it two days before I went the throat cleared up.. 4 days before I went it was so sore and swollen I had trouble swallowing..Anyway he sent me for a scan so I had that today and will get the results tomorrow..just to make sure that it had cleared up and will not I hope come back,, He thought it was probably a inflames tonsil..Would you believe a old duck like me with tonsillitis..lol lol...
Went to aquaerobics today and enjoy that..I love anything to do with the water..we have a lovely heated pool here in our village and its lovely to swim in..and the best thing is we can do it all year round as it is indoors..
John had a little walk around the village(retirement) today and is trying to exercise his leg..I told him if he dosent use it he will lose it so he is going out for a little walk each day..In this lovely weather it is quite pleasant..
Fred is probably galavanting in the van so hope he is getting some good weather and catching some fish...

Hi Everyone,
Here I am in Calgary in the middle of Indian summer (or is that now aboriginal summer???) Anyway up to the mid 20's each day...luverly. Kathy has been at work but off today.She took us antiquing...fun BUT she drives like a whirrling dervish or maybe the tasmanian devil. Norm refused to sit in the front so i did and kept my eyes mostly shiut!! What a laugh!!
I bought a set of pearls that looked quite old but likely not real. Kathy bought some plates. Then we were off to Future Shop where they had the Kitchen Aid Mixer on sale for a $100 off. Plus here in Alberta there is no sales tax. Going home the car will be on overload we have so much stuff in it. Tomorrow we may go to the zoo. Tonite i will try and chat to teresa.
It was lovely to read all the news. Have to tell you that Emily lost an arm the day before we left so she maybe going home!! I am quite upset about this so hopefully the guy who sold her to Norm will be able to fix her.
I am now off to the kitchen to watch kathy and Norm grind meat....I tell you it is a never ending round of fun and disaster. Hopefully they'll both have their fingers left.
More later Lesxx

Evening all, Sorry I didn't get around to posting any sooner but my "jobs" got in the way last week. Tomorrow is another busy one, monthly meeting of the Seniors and as I'm in charge of the coffee I also have to get the birthday cake for those who have an October b-day.. The fall colours are absolutely georgous this year. I guess because we have had so much rain. The birch trees are a brilliant yellow, the maples red and others in deep orange and various shades in between. Managed to get a real good one for my screen saver so I can look at it until the snow comes. Must remember to get a pic of all the cars covered in snow for Mary. I did enjoy the day with the visitors Christine. I will be waiting for them to get back home.Heather has a camera and is also on Skype so we will keep in touch. Hi to Tassie, Dorothy,J.A, Diane and Fred also Les when she has a minute to look in. Plan on the first big pot of soup next week Fred have a soup and sandwich luncheon and I will provide the soup. Your recipe of course!!!!!!! I do believe my dishes are calling to be washed so bye for now. Edith XXXXXX

Hi everyone
~~~~ to Christine, Teresa, Mary, Ian, Lesley, Dorothy, Janey, Fred, Diane, Brenda, JA, Veronica, Edith,
Gee this thread seems to be moving along very nicely, I have had a couple of busy weeks and remembered to look back in here and gee 5 pages I have to catch upon, but thats good to see.
I, as some know a a bit of a footy (AFL) tragic and it has been the end of the season with my team winning the Grand Final and we have had a few events to celebrate the win. No I dont play am only a passionate supporter :-)
It was school holidays over here 2 weeks ago so had my girls home and then this last week we have had Davids 2 boys here from Victoria as it is now their school holidays, David is my partner who I have been happily unmarried to for 6 years :-) and between us we have 6 kids, 3 each but none between us.
Christine roughly what part of Tassie does your cousin live? Im in the northern area where the Tamar River is. My garden, with the Raspberries is coming along quite well surprisingly enough so I have managed to grow something apart from weeds :-)
Hi Teresa, yes I recognised your name also from the previous Canadian thread, nice to catch up again.
Dorothy, hope all is going well with your new found family members.
Fred what I surprise that would have been getting the ticket to fly to Seans Wedding, Sounds like Missy keeps you on your feet, or at least tries too.
Edith, sounds like you had an enjoyable afternoon with the party for David and Heather and he Mom. Funny I thought Hobart Tasmania was part of Oz as is Launceston Tasmania, hee hee, dont mind me just a bit of a warped sense of humour, but I can understand the guy saying he is not from Oz but from Tasmania as a few times Tassie has been left off the map of Australia.
Mary hee hee I wrote my remark to Edith before I read your post, and I see my education of how our state runs has been sinking in so that is good lol. Just remember to shut the gate when going from North to South or vice versa when you get to the half way border lol.
Lesley, I nearly fell off my chair laughing at your post about the nosey neighbour and what you did with the mannequin rofl. We are quite lucky here and have good neighbours, I did worry about the man across the road when we first moved in as he spends a lot of time sitting in his front porch just watching everyone come and go, but after meeting him and having a few chats he is a nice bloke, he is in his 80's or maybe 90's lives on his own and I think it is just his way of filling in the hours. He is always up at dawn and very seldom we see a light on of a night as he goes to bed early too.
Dorothy, congrats on the new trig for your family.
Well, I think I have said hello to everyone, if I missed someone sorry, and will try and get back here sooner next time
Have a nice day :-) Cheers Sue
hi re boys and girls I have two grandson's aged 13 and 9 and a grandaughter aged 11 12 in november and she is a diva in the making her greatest joy at the moment is getting her younger brother in trouble and she is really slick about it, he is a quiet one and does not re-act to what sheis doing luckily her mom and dad are aware of the problem and dealing with it, my son's favourite remark to me is mom if you think nana is dead she is not she is alive and well in my living room, laura is very like my mother stubborn and knows she is perfect, I remember my mother looking at laura when she was about 18months and saying they will have trouble with this one she is just like me!!!! most of the time all three are great but what else is a doting grandma to think bye dorothy
Hi everyone, I have a teenage son and I'm sure your cat is a little easier than him at the moment, sometimes its very difficult, to say the least. He isn't a bad kid, generally quite nice.. it's just sometimes he looses the art of conversation and I'm lucky to get a grunt!! but I'm sure it will pass. ??? How lucky to see a platypuss, nothing so exotic around here, I'm afraid, we have the occasional fox and badger but thats about it..Lucky you... I've had a small lead into looking for my Canadian relatives, some kind person from Canada has been in touch via GR and given me a little information. Apparently my ancestors went to Canada via Canadian Pacific Railway, to be farmers in the Calgary area, so theres a starting point for me. Anyway enough from me. Goodnight all ...
Morning all ,from Newcastle [in the frozen north] where it's warmer these last two days than it's been all year lol. Striking while the iron is hot so to speak,i have been out back for two hours ,rubbing down the wood around the patio door ,removing all the varnish,and have now got a firdt coat of white paint on. The cat is going mad because she isn't allowed out till the paint has dried,she has enough white patches on her already,and on top of that i don't fancy having to emove cat hairs off the paintwork before i apply the second coat,even if they are the same colour ,he he. I don't think she will be pleased tomorrow either when i put the second coat on lol. At the present time she is yowling to be let out into the garden because Liz is out there hanging the washing,the cat keeps looking at me accusingly, he he ,you can almost read the thoughts[why is the missus out there ,and me stuck in here ,not fair]. We have been having a clear up in the kitchen freezer this morning because we need the room for soups and Christmas stuff,so ,we suggested a B B q at the youngest sons ,which he accepted with out a murmer ,hey,it's a fair swap,we supply the grub ,he cooks it lol,we have even found ten wraps which he can fill with one of his concoctions. Sent you a new email addy Edith,you are the first of very few people to get it,because the old addy is getting swamped with spam and vulgar emails from some naughty sites that i never invited. Next big party will be my official retirment do,and i hope the weather will be kind to me then,an awful lot of family will be here [i hope] and i alays go for the B B Q with paper plates [no washing up ,apart from the few cuppas,all the rest of the used utensils going into the recycle. I think i may also do the same as regards plates and cups for Christmas ,no washing up to worry about [wahey ,sorted ] Still having a lot of bother with yahoo mail and msn,so a few special peeps will be joining Edith [i hope ]with the new addy ,just in case these two providers continue to fight with each other ,instead of sorting themselves out lol. Hope everyone is having a nice one,see ya later.Fred.
Hi everyone from a rainy Sioux. Not me Not me Christine.Those days are loooong gone, Thank heavens. Les can't believe you named half a person(dummy) sorry. Still laughing.Too bad you you didn't get some movement going,hee hee Good to see you back Fred, we miss the stories when your gone.There are several Barnes in the phone books so keep trying some may be your kin,!!!! Looking forward to your soup recipes this winter,love trying different ones. Could you also send along the new address.The latest jokes have been sent back. Hope you hear from the Mounties Diane they are usually quick answering any queries. Mary you are so right, no bikini but I am very happy about the cooler days.Really tho' we have not had a summer this year. Lots of grey days with chilly winds and rain. But I do love the snow as it turns our world a lovely white.Right now the trees are beautiful red, gold and yellow I was taking pics on Sunday and they are even better to-day. The bears are still awake and roaming about. Was not too happy to hear they had shot 12 nuisance bears this summer. Humans have moved into their territory not the other way round. Would rather see them move the animals further from Town but I suppose they would return for the fast food !!!!! Dorothy I think you get our weather about a week after we do. How about some "snow alerts" hee hee? To all the others stay well and join us when you can. Time for Friday nite movies. Edith XXXXX
