Past three o clock ,on a cold and frosty mooooorning, past three o clock ,good morrow people's aaaaall ,he he. Hey For a time at around eight this morning it got darker instead of lighter, with all the clouds, but at the moment[ brightens up ] it' now sunny with a clear sky.The weather i heard about yesterday Mary ,was a news channel connected to the oz& new zealand newspaper channels.[news Herald] Think you aught to kick them up the bum Mary, them spreading false stories like that, talking of said channel.who won the rugby match? i couldn't stay on to watch it lol. The recipe sounds great ,i will certainly give it a go when the family come ,but it's too much for the two of us. I made a bit too much of our casserole yesterday ,so the other half is being heated up today ,with a couplwe of dumplings on. We will be having a few fresh carrots with it [julliene],some steamed new potato, roast potato and parsnip, and for the greens ,an old lincolnshire favourite, brussel tps ,steamed with the rest of the veggies. I have been waiting to start that harvest for weeks now, waiting till the plants are needing the tops removed to encourage the sprouts to grow with the frosts, lol,no greens get wasted in this house if i can help it,even the kids loved the taste of them when young ,but they wern't too keen on the brussels themselves, funny ,that. The last of the cos lettuce have been grown in a long tub and put in the greenhouse,so,when i use the lasrt ,i may very well start some more to see if they grow, but if they don't ,fine. I think we may have to do a little shopping this afternoon, not much needed ,but i can' be doing without my gravy powder and dumpling mix lol. See ya later peeps ,everyone looking forward to the weekend ,yey, time to start planning Christmas he he Here Fred ducks in case the shoes appear from every where ,lol.

goodmorning lesley no I did not go to the french resturant we went to a buffet lunch in one of the buildings at the banff theatre complex and it was very good, the best meal out was at the lake louise hotel with the view of the glacier etc I had the vidalia onion soup and it was a meal in its self wonderful, then we ate in a italian deli cafe in canmore which was also good and I was able to buy a tube of tomato paste which I can never find in ontario, I always bring back several tubes from asda and tesco when in england I love just being able to squeeze out the amount I want I find the small tins a waiste and if I freeze the remains I always forget I have done. it is amazing to be that I have lived in this wonderful country for 51 yrs and had never been west before, always going to england or the islands for holidays but mostly england but I now have wonderful memories of those mountains, hope you all had a good evening trick or treating the numbers at my son's home ( I was doing the door) were down again this year and the 13 yrs old and his 3 pals were back early as to quote them grandma it is not as much fun as it used to be the joys of growing up anyway they put on a scary movie and I enjoyed hearing the comments as they tried to understand why it was not as much fun and frankly quite boring. 4 13yr old trying to solve a big mystery!!!!! well it is cold but sunny in barrie to day just the day to catch up on the housework that has accumalated while I have been away bye for now dorothy

Just a quickie. The show starts today JA and already I have a bit of a problem. Our Emily got a bit wonky when I put her arms on yesterday so this morning Norm is coming with me to bolt her down temporarily. I think I am going to get a local metal place to make me a leg brace or something. Anyway she looks pretty jolly all decked out in her finery...must remember the pics!!!
We had a total of 2 children banging on our door last night...very poor. Everone on our block had their lites on and pumpkins etc...but no kids.
Went to a "meet the contestants" for the civic election the other nite. Was interesting. The old guard very much explaining their recent decisions especially the ones that were unpopular...BUT the best part was a councillor who told us that they were going to put a drug rehabilitation centre in about 6 blocks away from us. Then had the audacity to say that they knew they would have to deal with the local nimbys......hmmmm!!....I 'll nimby them. A neighbour and I already have plans to go door to door and get signatures etc. B.......!
Off to the show. Lesxx

Morning all, looks as though ALL councils are tarred with the same brush ,no matter where you live. These so called public meetings are decided by the councils before hand ,the meeting is a sop to the townspeople, nothing ever comes of them unless it's in the councils interest. Sorry to have been missing for a couple of days, but ,i have been busy ,getting the van jet washed, worth it though ,it's sparkling like a new pin now lol. Today it's the turn of the inside ,spring cleaning early. We had one son with a red face yesterday though,he was on the garden wall ,lance in hand giving the van roof six now't when he did what i told him NOT to do he he,he hit the skylight full blast instead of turning the pressure down, result,he burst the seal between the light and the van foof ,resulting in his intended getting soaked hair lol, she was NOT a happy bunny. I had to get the silicone mastic ,and gun out to repair it,but i made HIM do it ,maybe next time he will be more careful. The insurance for the trip ,and flight have been seen to ,i went to the coop because we already had travel insurence with them, and got it done easily. We travel to Manchester the afternoon before the flight, stay in he airport hotel overnight ,park the car at the airport carpark the following morning in time to report in departures at six am. The wife has ordered new furniture for the second double bedroom so that we can get it sorted in time for Sean and his new bride arriving back with us when we return home. They are staying for a week before flying back. It now turns out that her parents are nOT pleased that she is taking a gap year halfway through her doctorat's degree,so ,instead of being a witness and best an ,i am now a witness and will be giving the bride away. I don't mind at all ,in fact i will be honoured, but it seems a shame on the part of her parents, how narrow minded some parents can be,spoiling their daughters day because they are not suited. I'm glad they live in Poland ,because i would not get on with them,it isn't as though they are paying for uni',she is paying for it all. Hope everyone is okay,Edith ,in the frozen rgions ,ditto Les ,and those in hotter climbs,[lucky beggars] ,back later.Fred.

Hi Guys,
Yes Dorothjy, I also stayed up to watch. Very pleased with the result...he has a lovely smile, doesn't he. I also will worry about his safety. At one point they showed a clip of Kennedy when elected and I thought....hmmmm!! BTW somebody should tell his wife not to wear balck and red......together!!!
Well first artisan show done and gone. It was a great weekend and I learned a lot about what people may buy or not when deciding. I sold about a dozen or so aprons so was not displeased with that. Next fair, Christmas Village at the Mill, starts on the 21st. Nov....so it is back to the sewing machine. I did get some tidying done in the yard yesterday but really must get at that machine.
They are calling for a little snow here today but I think it is all lies!! It was about -2 overnite so certainly could be cold enough.
Hi Fred, still haven't figured that blurry msn. Hi to all of you who are missing, hope everyone is safe and well.

goodmorning from barrie a cold and sunless day we had more news on the young man who's body was found the other day aparently he must have climbed a tree to see where he was in the wooded area and fell the autopsy showed he died from chest injuries, it is so sad for his family , the building I now live in had a pot luck supper last night quite a good turnout and a very interesting menus. I now have lived here for two years after selling my house that was really too big for one person and am quite enjoying not having a garden to maintain and no snow shovelling, it is not a senior building so we have a good mix of ages and you can have animals so dogs and cats are welcome most of the dogs are small. bye for now dorothy

Hi Everyone,
Yes Dorothy, it was pretty sad about that young boy. I think these are difficult times to be a parent, looking back I think when my kids were young it was easier. No xbox or other video stuff. The kids and I would often rent a movie in the evening and hunker down in front of the TV......good times.
I am still sewing my brains out. The next fair is on the 21st. and I need to replace the ones I sold....I am going cross eyed!!! I have had quite a few people ask for special orders but I am not doing that this year....too stressful. I still have to make the one for Edith's granddaughter and thats it!!
Norm and I have just got back from 2 days in Victoria. He took me to all the best fabric stores and so I was able to geta bit more "stuff". We were both horrified about the amount of homeless people in the downtown area. We even saw a whole family - Mom, Dad and Kids, wandering along pushing their shopping cart of wordly possessions. There were many people holed up in doorways surrounded by their "cart" and cardboard and anything else to keep them warm. Makes me appreciate what I have and makes me cross that the gov. doesn't DO something!!!
Diane if you would like me to make a phone call for you just ask. I have a free plan for all of North America so no problems there.
Enjoy your friend Mary....that's what life is really all about isn't....friendship.
Christine I forgot all about Guy Fawkes this year, that was fun as a kid wasn't it. We had fireworks last New Years, a friend brought them along. I probably told you this before but we all stood outside ooohing and aaahing being liberally coated with ash and other noxious firework emissions. We laugh often about this. Nice to know you can be silly even when you get old!!!! er!!!!
Hi to the rest of you. Hope you are enjoying the weekend. More later Lesxx

And a good morning to all, says Fred ,with a bounce in his step, mainly due to help from a certain lady on this thread as of late. I have my connection with oz Mary [does a cartwheel in front of the puter ,[wahey]. I found my Gt Grandad many times removed In Wemyss Fife, along with his siblings and parents. It Was Charles ,one of [Davids ] brothers who caught my eye and clinched it all. Charles an older brother was also a mariner, and whereas David moved to Sunderland ,durham, brother Charles emigrated to N S W in 1940/41 on the ship Nantulus. I think it may have been an aassisted passage Lol,because the junior master [captain] on this vessel was one Chas Munro Baird, hows that for nepotism he he. I have to go to the council offices this morning to sort my pension out ,re the council tax,but after that ,carefully arranged and done houswork ovewrr the weekend leaves me free this afternoon to start looking for Charles ,in or around N S W 18400's onward. We had Chris over the weekend ,and i did him his sunday roast before he went back[dad is under strict instructions NOT to pick him up until the afternoon lol. Seing as the lad now loves his veggies ,i cooked a few for variety, roast Parsnip and sweet peppers,in with the fluffy roast potato's he loves, steamed savoy cabbage, carrot, and sweede, new potato's,all out of the garden apart from the parsnip. To go with this i did a roast pork loin, with apple sauce and stuffing, all paid for stuff was the meat ,and parsnip.not bad ehhhh? Glad to hear that you are enjoying your weather Mary, and the company you have or have just had. Half of the fridge shelf is taken up by the corned beef ,lol,i made the ingedients up last afternoon, and have to say,it's looking good, one 7,pound slab of meat for christmas on the way he he. Have to go and feed the pest ,no ,not the wife lol,see ya later.Fred.

Hi all
Have dropped by once in a while to read all the news but not so much recently.
I had to give up my job on Oct 28 (I was supposed to stay till end of December) as Keith had to have a quad bypass - came as quite a shock since he had minimal symptoms and even his medical in April showed nothing wrong on his ECG.
Any way we have a state of the art Heart unit at Hamilton General Hospital and he had his surgery on 4th November. He is home now and feeling pretty good. It will be a pretty long recuperation period as he has to be very careful about stuff and I am having to do simple things like helping him dress and fetching and carrying and changing the few remaining dressings on his wounds.
Amazing what they can do these days.
Will drop back again in a day or so
Luv to all
Veronica in Dundas

Hi Everyone, Veronica, sorry to hear about Keith. However having gone thru similar myself and now this year with Norm, I can tell you that soon he will be just like a teenager again...hmmm!! You take of yourself, give yourself a little break each day where you can sit and ponder life or go for a walk...you know what I mean.
Diane I can make calls for you any time just let me know. I wonder if it is possible that these rellies are "snow birds" and have gone south for the winter??
I have no news at all. I am shackled to my sewing machine and the 21st. looms ever closer. My daily excitement is walking the dog and how sad is that!!! Well it was exciting two days ago as I slipped on all the wet grass and leaves and slid down an embankment. Bella enjoyed it hugely and pranced all around....and me??? Well I was covered from my shoe all the way up my left side to my back in glorious mud!!!!! and NO!! my blood was not cool!!!! and who sang that again??
Have a great day you lot. Lesxx
