Wow Les',i do wish i could have been a fly on the wall during that trip ,and indeed i will google the boat and have a look see. Even the walk ashore sounds great ,with the highlight being the fish and chips, mine being at least once a fortnight at my usual spot ,Frydays ,next to Morrisons' in east denton. Afraid mine is the more humble Cod ,or Haddock though ,you lucky so and so ,Halibut is a luxury ,Luxury here, costing nearly £20 a kilo, believe it or not,far cheaper to buy Wild red salmon here ,or even swordfish ,crazy or what. :-0 . So long ago since tasting what used to be my favourite fish ,i can't remember what year it was, only that i was home on leave from the middle east. :-). Sounds like a great get together for Norm's birthday.and i bet Bella was like a dog with two tails ,she will have loved all the attention. I did see a couple of years ago that some of these big 100,000 ton oil tankers only had a crew of four in case of problems ,okay when the people in charge of the ship are fully conversant with a mainframe computer ,and okay on a lake where there are not a lot of hazards, but i wonder what will happen in a couple of years when these tankers come across one of these new radar invisible aircraft carriers ,88,000 ton of invisible ship in a fog will cause a hell of a bang ,he he. I have sent to Marshall's for my next years seeds,a new breed of perpetual spinach ,that crops over the winter,a new calabrese that is club root resistant ,a new cabbage ditto ,and cauliflower, again ditto. As soon as the missus has a really good morning ,it's tomato soup making time again,we have three pound in the feezer now ,and loads more in the greenhouse ,and a huuuuuuge plant that has taken over the spare urn out back,i could do with finding out what breed they are so i can grow some next year,i will have to find the packet of seed for the name [hopefully] ;-). I will have to take the camera out back to take a few pic's of the veggie garden now it's in full flower so to speak,,i might just send Asda a picture letting them see what use their old flower buckets are being used for ,might even get a voucher off them for my trouble ,he he ,but i won't hold my breath in anticipation . :-). The cat is at my feet here ,looking at me with those sad ,feed me eyes ,sigh ,well ,it is 4 pm ,her usual meal time ,so i will sign off and get cracking. Take care everyone ,and have a good week,Fred Liz' & the cat ,hungry ,as ever . :-D <3 :-D.

Hi everyone.. We are having lovely weather at the moment.. In the 20c range at the moment and its not even spring yet.. Fred .That mobility scooter sounds great but am afraid that John is not in the mind frame for one yet. He needs one more scare before he will admit he need a chair or scooter. His legs are getting worse so don't think it will be long,,Might have another go when we go to the next clinic in a couple of weeks time..Think the doctor will have a go at him. Think he is worried it will be to heavy for me to load it into the car and take out again..I have a dickey back and it might not help lifting things in and out of the boot.. will see what happens at the clinic. Those pics of your garden look fantastic.. OH for more sun on my patio..my carrots are coming along ok and my spinach is starting to come up..Have come to the conclusion that winter is not a time to try and grow things due to the little sun I get during the day on my patio..Summer sun is better so will make a effort then.
Les What a lovely day out you had for Normie's birthday..Sounds so enjoyable.
Edith.. Butter about losing your post..we could all resort to a group email..
Well its down to the shops again this morning as John needs more scripts filled..he got a small skin cancer taken off his nose yesterday at the skin doctor and has to go back in a week to have the stitch taken out...Today is a rest day and tomorrow its back to the clinic for another test..
Catch you all soon..

Afternoon all, been busy out back nearly all day picking beans ,beans and more beans,a little Calabreese, the first cabbage ,some plums off the tree ,and a few young turnips ,eased out of the three troughs to leave room for the others to fatten up. ;-). All my onions are out ,and layed on the soil to start drying out,and i have oodles of tomatoes and cucumber for stir fry's. The turnip we had for dinner ,topped and tailed ,after scrubbing ,steamer cooked and put on the plates with lashings of butter ,yum. I did them with the marrow ,this time stuffed with rice ,sweated bacon pieces ,and red onion, half a chopped yellow bell pepper ,a few herbs ,and ground salt and pepper, really nice it was too. Yes ,i know about the weight of the scooters Mary ,the three i looked at are in modules ,which come apart for putting in the car boot ,you just assemble them as you get them out ,which takes 3 minutes ,i couldn,t lift one myself ,with my hips .if it were together in one piece 30 kilo's or there about's , an ouch for both of us. :-0. The cat didn't take much feeding this evening having munched on cabbage white butterflies nearly all day ,lol,i don't care as it saves me chasing after the critters myself ,i won't use sprays this time of year because of the bees ,thoser poor little critters are desperate with the weather and lots of the hives over here are starving with all of the rain.:-(. Hope everyone has had a reasonable weekend And Les has managed to clean her garage out ,ready for the next load of cups and whatever he he[ducks to avoid that odd saucer . :-D. Back tomorrow when the plurry rain will keep me indoors all day ,Fred One stuffed pusser cat ,and Liz .xxx <3

Afternoon to all where ever you are from a cool but pretty sunny blighty ,up herew it is anyway. :-). Spent a lovely hour last night watching The Tattoo from Edinburgh, well worth the watch ,for the first time bands and scottish dancing schools from Australia, and Canada.and have to say ,you did yourselves proud ,and us too. Both countries had a section in the mixed pipe bands ,that had me filling up ,lol, being of scot'e extraction ,the sound always gets me going ,lol. The Aussies sent the Home Defence Force Military band over as well .they were really good ,and seeing the hats they were wearing ,it brought back many memories of doing desert exercises with them ., and the Ghurka's in the middle east. There was a drum band from Norway which i remember from somewhere ,but this year they were amazing ,the whole routine done with no words of command. No doubt it will be shown over there in a few days .well worth a watch peeps.at least ,i thought so ,lol, can't you tell ?. WE are going to have a new sort of Pesto on our tea time pannini's ,riccota tomato and cheese sounds a bit of alright ,and i am going to do a few Mccains home fry chips for the first time ,to see if they are a go for the future ,if not ,it's back to the wedges ;-)Going to sign off for now ,but will be back later ,tis time to get the dinner out of the oven,so ,catch you later peoples ,take care ,Fred ,Liz <and the furry pest . :-D ;-)

Went to the Mormons again this afternoon while John had a sleep.. Found some info but need to go back next week to finish it..Was nice to get out..
We have had no rain for ages and I have to get out and water my pots nearly every day..Do hope we get some rain soon but none in the foreseeable future.
Nothing much new here, so not much to chat about..Do hope all are ok and those that are poorly are getting good results from treatment.
Take care all and will try and get back soon..

Morning Mary ,and anyone else who decides to look in . Glad you enjoyed your little escape Mary ,very important to relax whenever you can ,and i know you enjoy a little research whenever you get a chance. I am doubly lucky ,because i can just lose myself in the garden or greenhouse ,when i need to ,both a job of work ,and an escape for me ,big time. I managed to get all of my onions into the greenhouse this morning ,after making room by cutting out the first of the cucumber plants ,that was dying off anyway :-). I also got the bins out front before they turned up to emply them ,lol, being Wednesday this week bewcause of the holiday ,i nearly forgot ,ooops.he he. :-0. aI even got the fist 2 of the 9 buckets of Asparagus turned out as well ,before the threatened rain arrived ,i did try sending some your way ,but it wasn't having any ,and dumped it all over Newcastle instead :-|. My garden is winding down now ,and many of the buckets will soon wan't getting ready for next season ,with winter just over the horizon ,but i think ,taking all the bad weather this year ,i have done well for the size of the plot :-). Looking forward to the 9 extra buckets for the brassica next year which are going to be used for the Cauliflower seeds i ordered ,enough to do two years at least. Going to prepare something for dinner now ,don't know what yet though he he ,pot luck i reckon ,but those Panninie's i did yesterday with the riccota ,tomato ,pesto were a big hit with the missus, and i have three weeks to use the rest of the jar ,on more of them ,or something else ,before the refrigerated Pesto goes out of date. Wow how time fly's ,before much longer i will be looking for a piece of lean, big sized beef to corn for Christmas so i had better look see to find out whether or not ,i have the spices and salt petre i need for the processing . Looking at the state of the worlds corn and wheat harvests ,we have got a dozen small packets of flour mixes in to do ,some loaves if we find it hard to get flour ,these packets are okay until 2013 so we will be okay either way and i will shortly buy some dried yeast ,and plain bread flour as well ,so it will be a case of getting the big mixer out ,because neither of us can knead for long periods like we used to,the mixer has turned out to be a real boon ,being used for grating ,shredding ,beating and chopping ,,i is gettin' lazy in my old age ,lol. Catch you all later ,take care every one ,and Mary old pal ,hope you enjoy your coming spring weather ,lucky person ,as we head into our winter ,brrrrr.Fred ,Liz & hissyxxx :-D
