Beautiful dress,
I couldn't get that to work either, so I googled Mark Lesley 2021 and that did.
Mark Lesley is quite a new designer, I tried one of his dresses on, he seems to make dresses with proper women in mind

Sounds lovely Charley and it will look spectacular - continue your theme right through the wedding, with the flowers in church (assuming you are going into church) and into the reception tables etc.

You'll look cracking and sod the m-in-law! )))

(and what's more your OH will be so proud of you he'll be beaming all day long)

Hi Charley,

If you, OH and the bridesmaids are happy then that's that!

M i L and the others can wear colours they like. I wouldn't try to force them into black and white by having it as a theme, it can look awful on some people.

She's got 11 months to get used to it. Order the dresses then there is no point in her moaning because it's done.

Well, if your bridesmaids don't have a problem with wearing black then go for it.

I think your dress is your choice and nobody elses.

I think black and white sounds stylish BUT how about a compramise have the bm dresses made up in a coloured (your choice of) material with black trim or sashes, same material for all but different styles to suit different sizes and ages. Black and the colour in bms head wear (feathers?)
Then you can pick that colour up in your bouquet and the venue flowers..

Tradition for who? Queen Victoria set the trend for a white dress (so I believe) and then for many many years it was only the rich had a special dress. Certainly until 1920s most brides got married in a dress or suit they could wear again and many still have done since - and still do.

Your colour scheme is not black but ivory and black or ebony and ivory - how does that colour scheme sound - I would go for cream flowers it would carry on the elegance theme. Why not have the adult bmaid in ivory with black bow - saw a wedding once where all inclduing bride were in peach and it was actually quite nice and different.

thank you very much, do you see now why i sooooo want that one, i felt like a princess when i tried it on....xx

Guinevere Report 11 Aug 2008 18:02

I wouldn't feel happy getting married in a dress I thought my OH wouldn't like - it's his day as well.

How do the bridesmaids feel about wearing black? My grown up bridemaids helped me choose the colour for their dresses, I wanted them to feel comfortable as well.

I love the idea of a black and ivory wedding but if it was going to cause problems I'd choose the dress I wanted and compromise on what the others wore.
