As some of you may know, my old girl was diagnosed with a tumour of the jaw bone earlier this year... we were told 6 to 12 weeks. That was 6 months ago, so we have made sure every extra day counted.

She is such a feisty girl, and has been *chasing butterflies* until yesterday, when she began to go downhill.. gently, but definitely.

I have just got back from the vet, and her time has now come. She has been given something to help rehydrate and nourish her tonight, and the vet will come tomorrow and send her peacefully to her final rest.

We will miss her so much, but will fuss her tonight.

Oh Daff,I do feel for you.It awful to have to do it but you can't let them suffer.(not like people sometimes).I'm sure it will be peaceful.I'm filling up now remembering my old boy Dodger.

Well Daff, it was your love that made her hang on for an extra 3 - 4 months with you. She knows it's her time to go and it's so nice that animals don't have to suffer to the bitter end.
Thinking of you tomorrow. She'll be in her favourite place - in her home, with you.

So glad though she will be her family when she says her final goodbye. I sat in the vets waiting room counting down the customers knowing our old boy Puss Puss was on his final journey and not wanting it to be our turn,
Its heartbreaking but its the final act of love we can do for our pals and knowing they had a good life and loads of love somehow makes it easier to bear.

It's such a hard decision to make but the right one and a kind one when you know it's time.

Belle is lucky to have such a loving friend.

Hi Anne we lost our pal puss puss in 1997 aged 17 having had him from 6 weeks old.he was a real character and so loving .as soon as I went to bed he was up on my chest nuzzling and drawling all over me. he hated being put in the cattery when we went abroad on holiday to Germany but we had no option cos daughter was in Germany with her husband so no one to take care of him,My did he give us the cold shoulder for about a week when we got home till he decided he had told us off good and proper so we could be in favour again, Still miss the old guy but can now speak of him without crying.
