Taff

Taff Report 2 Jun 2008 18:43

ELDRICK , I asked for help,
and as yet I still havent heard from the vets!

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 2 Jun 2008 18:28

Ah, in that case, I wouldn't dispute that one.

I wish you could class labradors as wild animals.....or alsations. Cost me £140 to have the last one put to sleep last year.

Granny Grumps Report 2 Jun 2008 18:18

Sorry El did not make myself clear.............apologies offered, want i ment is if you turn up at vets with wildlife they will treat, and yes you are correct if they are called out they will charge.................sorry,

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 2 Jun 2008 18:11

I too worked with vets for many years and count all the local vets here as friends.

I can just see the look on their face if they were expected to go running around after foxes with mange free of charge........

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 2 Jun 2008 18:06

In that case, any vet will turn out. Your yellow pages is the best bet.

For an out of hours call out, reckon on around £150.00, incl of VAT and drugs, depending on how far they have to travel.

It may be less, may be more, but I think that will be a rough ball park figure going from memory.

If you take it to them, figure on half.

Granny Grumps Report 2 Jun 2008 18:05

EL.sorry but i work in vets have so for 13yrs and YES they must treat wildlife free of charge...............phone Royal College if you want proof.xx

Blue Moon

Blue Moon Report 2 Jun 2008 18:03

Taff you OK ?
just came back to see if the vet had rang yet.

Edit
If you get a bill from the vet we will start a collection,

Taff

Taff Report 2 Jun 2008 17:53

El,. all I want is a phone No,. and if necessary I will pay the bill, and i am sure my neighbours will be willing to help, to save their cats, as well.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 2 Jun 2008 17:48

Are you going to pay the vet to turn out......?

Or catch it and take it to them....? (not recommended unless you want to catch some horrible disease yourself and are up to date with all your jabs including rabies)

Cos contrary to what someone has said, vets are most definetely not obliged to help out wild animals free of charge. When we had to call them from work for injured badgers, deer, etc. they always sent a bill. And so they should. Or they would be treating myxied rabbits, rats caught in traps, mice with sprained ankles and flattened hedgehogs.

Taff

Taff Report 2 Jun 2008 17:41

oh, just leave it untill the vet gets back to me!
