I just hate to see a defenceless animal in pain, there is no wild life around here, and I do take on that foxes are preditiors, but thats the chain of life!

Eldrick I understand why you feel as you do about them in that case.
And just in case Taff catches it to treat am I right in thinking she mustn't release it again as it's considered vermin? I'm not 100% sure of this but it might be worth considering Taff in case you get stuck with it and not be able to find it a home.

nope fox can be released only squirrels get the chop at vets..............xx

Eldrick Report 2 Jun 2008 16:28

Yep, I agree totally, no animal should suffer in any way. 100%.

I personally would be ringing the council if it's an urban fox. They should have a pest control officer. A mange ridden fox is a health hazard. It is cruel to imprison a wild animal to try to cure it of mange.

Ahh thanks gran. I know there are some things once caught that mustn't be released.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 2 Jun 2008 16:30

Yes, foxes can indeed be released.

Do it near me and I will shoot it very quickly. A fox that has been introduced to humans becomes a bigger pest than a totally wild one.

There's only one way to deal with a mangy urban fox!

Awe Eldrick................where is your sensitive side?
only joking of course i realise they are a problem to farmers and nature can be cruel.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 2 Jun 2008 16:37

lol

Urban foxed dont do a great deal of harm, they can be left alone most of the time i suppose. Even I confess to finding them quite cute and appealing in that context.

But transporting them out into the countryside to release them is basically signing a death warrant.

Taff Report 2 Jun 2008 16:37

El, you will have to shoot me 1st then the animal, sorry mate but some animals are worth more than some people.

Taff Report 2 Jun 2008 17:06

All I want is some help for an animal in pain, not a gun as an solution, unless thats the very last resort!

Still no reply from the vet...........

SallyF

SallyF Report 2 Jun 2008 17:26

And you'd think that an animal in pain or distress would have them acting fairly quickly. Otherwise they'd only be in it for the money........

Taff

Taff Report 2 Jun 2008 17:26
