I would say there was fair profit,
in being a Prophet ?

Roll up roll up, come and be saved for a small fee.

people are taken in very easily..and want something to "believe" in..we are vulenerable in our insecurities..The Jonesville scenerio..people wanted a "perfect heaven"..an Eden you might say..but they were taken in by a drunken philanderer..whom used and abused them

and just to say before I close off,

the questions placed are no more than hypothetical are they not?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 20 May 2008 13:24

Is it the personalities of these so-called prophets that draw in the vulnerable i.e. are these people charismatic? Or is it the words they speak?
Sue

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 20 May 2008 13:24

Yes we do.

It's down to whether you would believe someone whos eyes are that close together.....

OH

OH Report 20 May 2008 13:22

or we could say it is much the same with polies,
we hear what we want to hear and follow that path.

I rest my case.

Eldrick, as far as we are concerned, we cannot tell if a prophet is true or false,
but as I wrote earlier, I have seen it written that we will know when it is happening.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 20 May 2008 13:18

Yes

It might be cynical, but if you learn enough old testament verses and shout loud enough....peopl will follow you to the ends of the earth.

Remember Jonesville....?

it comes down to people being gullible..prophets are good story tellers..

Now don't be facetious;)) I guess that's what faith is - believing in something without question. I do believe that the "fakes" in this world draw in the lonely, vulnerable people who are looking for something in their lives. I don't think there is an answer to your question.
