Susan

I was reminded about them today when i was walking around the market in Chesterfield and saw some dolls on one the stalls, in fact both my wife and i remarked, i thought these were banned, so perhaps they are not,

Do you know George.....I was just talking about them the other day.....my sister used to collect them and when you had enough, you sent off for a gold badge of one.....pity it was made to mean something it wasn't.....still I suppose there will be other views on that......didn't mean anything to me anyway.....twas just a badge and a nice looking one at that.

Hang on i dont believe its the media just saying that Carols and Nativity Pays are banned in schools, this is reality, yes they are.Left wing council policy.well it is where i live

And who told Robertsons they could no longer put their famous trademark on their jars of jam.

Was a commercial decision or was it political correctness.?

whoops, sorry, was just answering David's original question. am a bit behind because I got waylaid and when I came back, instead of going to newest first it went to oldest......a touch of premature senility creeping on methinks.

Don't get me started on Newspapers/media. I loath them.

Over the years I have seen them take speeches out of context to make it seem a person has said one thing when they havent. ie: Enoch Powells speech on immigration ( don't ask me to quote any of it though :-)

Prince Charles about many subjects and other more ordinary people.

When they get 'pushed' into apologising, by which time they have sold many more papers than normal, the apology is hidden somewhere unoticeable.

Then there is the scaremongering and 'scandals'

These are just a few examples....I could go on but wont lol

I think we just decided to blame the press Susan lol

Devon Dweller

Devon Dweller Report 19 May 2008 19:03

I think the media especially the newspapers should be controlled full stop. I don't buy newspapers at all because of the utter rubbish that they get away with printing

Susan719813 Report 19 May 2008 19:02

Roxanne Report 19 May 2008 19:00

D.D,I agree, thats it,I have not once heard a muslim /Jewish or any other person of a different faith complain about Christmas, its the media that cause all the fuss and its really about time they were told.

Uggers

Uggers Report 19 May 2008 18:56

That's what I wonder, DD.:)

Devon Dweller Report 19 May 2008 18:54

It was already set in stone when we moved here.

Like most things though there are good and bad. Im all for standing up for ourselves for the better good but who did they actually ask when it comes to being offended? I dont know anyone who actually complains about having to have Christmas day off of work.(if they are lucky enough to get it)

Uggers

Uggers Report 19 May 2008 18:48

That's how I see things, Rox.

DD, couldn't you fight it?
