Ta tory.
Not having been here long, but frequenting other forums, it does seem to me that some posters get a bit possessive over the threads they start.

I do know what you mean Tory, it can seem like the whole page is a 'support ' thread on occasion...but that is not so often and I feel it is one of the strengths of this site that people who need it can feel comfortable enough to ask openly and be given help...however one chooses to do it....

xx

So is the {{{HUG }}}} back on then.....?

SallyF

SallyF Report 16 May 2008 15:31

The threads for support and positive thoughts, hugs etc I can fully understand. I may not participate in them, but each to their own with that.
Why though on some threads the OP seems to feel they have a right to say who posts what and when puzzles me. It's a site that every member of GR has access to and therefore every member has the right to post on every thread. I have actually seen some OPs telling other posters to 'get off MY thread' when once it's gone live for all to see it belongs to no-one in particular.

I agree RR we do all need hugs at times but there are so many on the boards at times it gets to much .I also suport people but do it by pm .I think a much better way to do it :-))

Rambling

Rambling Report 16 May 2008 15:26

no Tory and that is fair enough, ...but some find comfort and support in other ways.....

I am not usually one to ask for candles or prayers...but it is nice to get a few (((hugs))) when you are down...even if they serve no 'practical' purpose...

yes they can of course be sent by PM...lol so can anything!

tory

tory Report 16 May 2008 15:22

i have a thread on here for autisum and adhd and we give each other a lot of suport but we don't do it with hugs , positive thought and candles anything like that can be done by pm

Rambling

Rambling Report 16 May 2008 15:14

to be hoped you are never in need of some comfort then Sylvia...I appreciate the fun threads...but I certainly wouldn't beliitle those who may not have a network of family or friends and find support and comfort in times of illness on this board...

One member died this year...she always posted hopefully...and maybe prayers and lit candles helped give a little comfort and hope?
