there was a mention of a Richard in Devon with a son names John, apparently Richard had a very bad reputation, so as John grew up he left the area to avoid the same,, but that was a long time ago and I was never able to get back to that person to find out more.

Those in Devon say that it was too far for someone to have travelled up to Bitton.
Others have said without saying,
"How dare you suggest a person from Devon would go to that area"

yes, married 4 Apr 1797 St Mary's Church Bitton, and children after that, no one has found anything prior, nothing, zip, nudda.
