I think, like anything there are good and bad. I am a medium and a psychic myself. I have been told I am very accurate. I know plenty of others who claim to be. I personally never charge for readings, but I know plenty that do. I feel the ones that charge have to perform, and are more likely to embellish or fabricate from my experiences anyway.

I don't give a flying whatsit what people believe as long as they don't exploit others emotionally or financially.

I'm not even sure what I believe. I have seen/felt things about people which can't be explained logically but I tend to think it's maybe an advanced form of empathy. I've seen enough documentary evidence of fake mediums to make me very cynical about the whole thing. I saw Paul McKenna reproduce a reading except he explained how it was all a trick and demonstrated how it was done.

My Nain taught me to read cards, against my grandfather's wishes, but Tarot is very much open to interpretation and I think you pick up on body language and emotion when you read them, which is why readings can seem so accurate.

My Nain supposedly had "the sight" and thought I did too but I have never explored it particularly, apart from a brief spell when I was a student.

I accept that I do get feelings about people and situations but remain unsure whether it's a psychic phenomena, the spirit world, empathy, telepathy or imagination.

I have synaesthesia so I can accept that there is more to the mind than can be satisfactorally explained by logic but I have also seen enough of the world to be deeply cynical about those who claim special powers.

Of course you cant PROVE that the spirit world exists, but then again none of the doubters posting can PROVE it does not

That depends on what proof you waht colin ,and so you come back to what you chose to believe ,and I have my beliefs and because of them I feel I have the proof I need just as much as the believers in the spirit world feel they have there own proof .

I believe in life after death.

I have had my personal proof, from complete strangers who have described to my close family members who have passed, supplying not only physical details but confirming events, sometimes silly ones no one could begin to think up to tie in with the person being described, or things which may have happened to me in recent days which to me were unexplained at the time.

Funnily, several mediums over a couple of months (some in different places I may add)..Kept on giving the message that I would be having trouble with a back tooth of mine, and to say I must get it sorted or it would be very bad.

I kept on denying it, even when one medium told me exactly where it was to the very tooth.

I of course did have trouble with that tooth, it was cracked and even though i ignored it, every now and again it twinged.

I ended up losing that tooth, It turned out in the end to have a very nasty abscess on it. Even after it was pulled, days later I was in pain, infection had set in and 2 lots of antibiotics and a dangerous lot of painkillers had to be taken

No way could they tell, three or four mediums that is, that I had tooth trouble in that one spot. by looking at me, & I diddnt tell anyone either(sort of out of sight out of mind theory)

I will never again ignore a persistent warning lol !

I do agree there are some rotten mediums who fish for info. I just ignore them,

But there are some brilliant mediums who will give you proof personal for you, without fishing for details,

I really hate the fact people will give you say a white dog, and when you say no, its then symbolic of something else, or maybe if thats wrong, something else again. I wont take that !

I am sufficiently spurred on to try to meet a medium......I do have a problem with paying for one, though....so I will have to infiltrate the circle, so to speak.

So if anyone knows a reputable medium in the North of England, please let me know. I don't mind making a donation to charity.

I don't think Eldrick wanted something for nothing. I think if someone who truely believed they were a medium was then made the offer to have a donation to a charity made then they sould except it unless they only use there so called gift for personal gain

If you are determined that mediumship is fake you will rarely get your proof, as you will always disbelieve whats given to you regardless if its correct or not, a reason will always be sought to make that info wrong (mind reading, inside info..the list is endless)

My advice would be to go to a spiritulist church. You may not get a reading, you may get one. But it will be free (give or take ten pence in the collection tin)

Go with an open mind, but dont expect the person who may come through to be the one your heart is set on to.

I have to say MH that that could be an idea but I am not the sort of person that would believe something just because someone got it right once .I have in my own time been intrested and had an open mind and through my own findings made my choice which I am entitaled to do .Just as you are intitaled to your beliefs.

I will go with an open but enquiring mind and will ask the questions that I posed here.

I'm not in the slightest bothered about being contacted, it is the background to the belief that I am most intertested in and sceptical about. I am more than prepared to listen, but the theory behind it all has to be believable and at the moment, all I see is chaos.

Think i be 'Devils advocate' here really. Its very much subject of individual sentiments.:))
