Jean Durant

Jean Durant Report 15 Apr 2008 19:05

It is a very long, long story which I wont go into today but
I had an appointment yesterday at Barts to discuss my treatment. Things did not go too well and I left feeling very confused.

I rang my keyworker today and explained how upset I was not to have seen the Oncology Consultant but his registrar
who didn't seem quite sure what treatment I needed.

The Oncology consultant rang me this afternoon to clarify things and told me I no longer have bowel cancer. That was removed during the colonoscopy. The only cancer I have now is the carcinoid which is very slow growing.

I have another CAT scan in the next month and 2 specialized blood tests but he seemed to think I might not need any treatment for quite a while.

I can't believe that I have beaten breast and bowel cancer.

At the moment I am in limbo and can't get my head around it all. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Perhaps I'll do both:))

I can never thank you all enough for your prayers and positive thoughts over the last few months. They have got me through many a dark hour.

Of course I blame the Government for all my sleepness nights. If it wasn't for their screening programmes I wouldn't have lived through this nightmare. LOL.
