Jessie aka Maddies mate Report 14 Apr 2008 20:40

How about rasing money for the dogs which may have more impact than a petition to stop an artist, after all stopping him won't stop the dogs from starving..............

He has got people talking - which I believe was his aim - and through that it is now chance to help the other dogs that no-one see's and no-one thinks about as out of sight is out of mind

Not talking about dogs here but those starving in the city he displayed his " so called art"

Just my thoughts on the subject as sometimes actions can speak louder than a name on a petition

Hi, this is a different Heather - Im not the one who has confirmed its a hoax - in my opinion I dont believe it is Rox - the news release saying it was an attempt by the artist to make the plight of starving dogs known was by the gallery which presented his exhibition.

I dont believe they can be trusted and nor do I believe the varying stories he has come out with to back up theirs.

As I said on Tanyas thread, they said he had cared for the dog - dont make me larf, its almost dead in those photos and tied by a string, laying on cold tiles with no water bowl.

Further he said he fed the dog - well, what can you say to that one, his a bag of bones and couldnt have been fed normally in that state anyway.

He says the dog escaped after a day but that poor dog couldnt have escaped from a paper bag, let alone from a gallery where he was tied by string anyway and hardly able to walk.

He then says Oh, he released it back onto the streets at the end of the exhibition - so that starving, ill dog which he had so much compassion for was dumped back onto the street to die without any veterinary treatment when he was no longer of use.

Has the artist who was so worried about the dogs set up a trust for them now with the money he has earned from that exhibition?

Oh come on guys, the gallery and the "artist" are pooing themselves because of the uproar.

Just a wild stab in the dark,....call it intuition or whatever.....but I would hazard a guess that I am not on your list of people that you would like to have a curry and a bottle of wine with :-)

So, sadly, the chances of knowing you, that being the case, are slimmer than a top models stomach :-)

Hi Heather, Thanks for confirming it.

I still think it was Sick.

Heather Report 14 Apr 2008 18:26

This has been proved to be a hoax and a publicity stunt by the artist to bring attention to the question-why do we only start protesting and show our disgust at a dog dying when it is made public, why not do it when they are dying on the streets. It is not acually happening

Sigh

No, I'm not suggesting that. I'm not suggesting anything.

Personally, I feel I'm pretty much sorted and don't feel the need to do anything radical to sort out the ills in the rest of the world.

But don't let me stop anyone else from trying! It's damned praiseworthy and to be applauded.

But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't think I am telling anyone to do something or suggesting anything, because I am not. Read the posts!

Ian the whole world knows that they are shooting street children like rats in the street in Brazil (I believe) and are you suggesting that someone tries a bit of ART on that subject?

If you really are interested in the plight of children.... join CAZA ALIANZA.... and learn a dreadful lesson on cruelty to children.

you would perhaps be shocked.
AND the powers that be... KNOW this!

I think you've misunderstood me.

I'm not saying that anyone should do anything, perish the thought. It's not up to me to say what anyone should do. Nor would I try to.

But ponder on this .....if this guy hadn't done what he ALLEGEDLY has, how many people would know there are tens of thousands of dogs in Costa Rica and other places in the same condition?

And what is signing a petition or sending death threats to this guy going to achieve for these animals....? How is that helping them....?

Hey, sign away, more power to your elbow. Go for it full speed ahead! If it makes you feel better and you think it will achieve something, excellent, jobs done!

So what exactly are you saying Ian?

Are you saying that if we see *one dog starving in an 'art gallery' we should do nothing, because there are so many dogs starving?*

We know very well the cruelty which is rife in this world.... but don't turn your back on one creature who needs your help.

If every one of us helped ONE CREATURE.. animal or human.... that is as much as each of us can do.
That is as much as can be expected of each of us.

I can't correct all the worlds ills, but I can HELP by recognising them and bringing them to the fore.

Thank you Heather for bringing this to our attention.
I will certainly sign and I shall encourage other people to sign as well.
This cretin obviously has no feelings for any living thing.
I would like to tie him up and give him a taste of his own medicine!

I dont believe that was the guys intention - because there is too much that doesnt add up.

But the point is Ian, people are willing to stand up and be counted and thats the important thing here - holding up your hands and saying "nothing will change" is the attitude tyrants have always relied on.

Catherine from Manchester Report 14 Apr 2008 11:24

I can see what your saying Ian, but it still does not make it right-it's pretty horrific to prove a point (that's if it's true) a petition may not make a huge diffrence but people care and that's why they sign.

:{{{0())~}        Ian         مْر

:{{{0())~} Ian مْر Report 14 Apr 2008 11:22

Probably not, but neither will it change by signing a petition against some bloke who has allegedly been cruel to one dog out of thousands..........which is his point in a way

Roxanne

Roxanne Report 14 Apr 2008 11:20

I don't concentrate on a single Issue.

If everyone sat back and thought"whats the point" would anything ever change??

I think the classic was the american students who did the 'pay up or the rabbit gets it' stunt.

People feel their consciences can be salved by concentrating on a single issue, or at least that is the case in many cases :-)
