Afternoon all

lots of lovely memories on here, how about this one

The shilling electric meter, lol we seemed to be forever shouting, Dad, the bobs have gone,

sugar sarnies, and ovaltine ones too, if dad did tea

The rented telly from telebank, when he came to empty it, he always gave some back

The betterwear man who came round with his case of goods, and left little samples

Spanish gold, jubblies, and everlasting toffee strips that lasted till tea time

listening to radio luxembourg for half an hour at night if we had been good

Just got back from the weekly market and there was a craft stall selling gollywogs, cuddly toys - first one I have seen in years

I remember the toothpaste well afraid to say I quite liked it .Eucarol or something like that abit like it today but comes in a tube.

Anybody remember the Gibbs Pink toothpaste in the little round tin ? such an awful taste,we all had to use it in the family, heaven knows we must have caught each other's germs !!

I remember the 'days out' to the Malvern Hills, Clent, Kinver Edge or going abroad to Stratford Upon Avon for the day on a Midland Red Bus (we felt so excited as we knew Midland Red was dearer than the local council buses and were really for ''posh people'')

I don't remember those Marilyn my mum used to just make slab cake with icing sugar and water mix on some got sprinkles some got a cherry.
Space Hoppers were great but much bigger then the ones today.

Remember scaring my mom silly by giving her a jam jar full of frogs as a birthday present. The next day I found a shilling so made amends by buying her a huge bunch of flowers. Was taken to the flower lady by my father who wouldn't believe I hadn't stolen them.

Also remember my father rushing out of the house with my latest find, and my asking, "Mom, what's an unexploded incendiary bomb?"!!

What about Safron buns and Nelson squares,
I used to come home from school and smell them from my next door neigbours house,I would knock on the door just to say hello,hoping she would give me one!!!

I remember the sanies in bread bag,,,,,,,

being draged through everything when blackberry picking,,,my sis saw a grass snake grabed my hand and took off like rocket,,,I was like wounded soldier,and lost he basin in the process,,,,,,,,,,,dad had to go look for it...........!

I'd forgotton about squash lollies...............lol

My brother ( again.........lol ) got his whole tongue stuck on the ice cube tray ( a metal one ).........Mum had to pick him up and get this tongue under the running tap to release him..........I remember the squeals.............lol

Squashed summer sandwiches eaten with grubby hands yum yum.............lol

not allowed to say golly*** any more .Chocolate spread sandwiches in the bread bag that you swung round so much they went into a ball in the bag.I only got to go on the bally Knackery things coz a friend parents were opening a shop and had some stock in the garage they wouldn't let use have a pair so we took all out of bags and had one go on each one.
scrumping always gave me realy bad tummy ache.
