Jackie - sorry your threads seem to get overlooked...I do know that at times, when these boards are moving fast, threads go over to page two very quickly without getting many replies...this may have been the case.
I for 1 will look out for your next one & hopefully it will get the replies you hope for.

Hi ya Jackie. I dont come on here as much these days but I know what you mean. I just posted a trhead and almost straight away its booted to page 2!!! with no replys.

Awww Jacky, and I can only speak for myself. With regard to the first thread you put about about Birmingham, I am afraid it must have paled into insignificance for me as I was still in shock, having being caught up in the London bombings.

With regard to a thyroid lump, I have no knowledge of same so I would have had nothing positive to contribute to your thread.

So what I am trying to say is...it is certainly not intended as insulting or indifferent, if people don't reply to your threads. I am quite accustomed to some people never answering me on the rare occasions I put up a thread:-)

Have a good day. BC XX

Jacky I am so sorry,

I saw your post and read it and was interested, but believe it or not was too shy, not having spoken to you before, to answer.

Your post has brought tears to my eyes and I assure that it was just one of those misunderstandings that happen all the time on the boards. You must have felt so sad. Please don't take it to heart....nothing personal is meant.

I do so hope you were able to get over the shock of what must have been an awful day and also hope you will forgive us for not being there for you..

God Bless

Susan

Hi everyone,

Please I don't want anyone to take this thread personally and I know that others have felt the same as PM's have shown!

Colin, I know you are busy so nothing was directed at you.:-)

Ann and Gwynne - I know you both reply to me at times :-)

I think the point I was trying to make is that there can be 2 identical threads put up but it seems to be the other one that gets the responses. I have posted a lot of threads and end up deleting after a couple of days.

2 examples: (are you ok for a long read?)
The terrorist incident. It happened 2 days after the London tube bombings. We were evacuated out of a theatre in Birmingham along with a few hundred others from the theatre (including cast), all the hotels were evacuated with lots in dressing gowns and all pubs and clubs in Broad Street were evacuated. Several hundred Police with guns, armoured vehicles and dogs arrived including many from the bomb squad. Over the next hour we were moved further and further back until we were about a mile from where we started (and our car was!). We took charge of a young teenage girl who had got separated from her boyfriend. She couldn't call home as she was supposed to be in Nottingham. After a couple of hours and many calls directing him, he found us and luckily gave us a lift home. Although it was sort of fun at the time it was very scary especially as bombs had been found in cars. I was quite shaken when we got home as was my daughter. OH is a big kid and found it all fun! I put up a thread and I had one reply. A few minutes later someone posted a thread to say they had heard on the radio that there was a bomb threat in Birmingham. That thread received dozens of replies. At that time I just wanted someone to chat to.

Example 2: I put up a thread recently asking about thyroid lumps and asking for advice. I had 2 replies. A few days later an identical thread was posted with again lots of replies. Again it was at that moment that I needed to speak to someone.

When this happens you start to feel invisible and wonder why some get the responses and others don't. I know Bob said it could be the way it written or not an intersting topic which is fair enough if it applies to all on the same subject.

Anyway, that's my moan over with and back to life's little problems.

Thanks again for replying and have a nice afternoon.

Jacky :-)

Hi Jackie, I've been lucky I suppose when I have put a thread on or answered someone else, I first came on just before Christmas but kept quiet until February because I didn't know anyone and what to chat about. I think it's a case of finding something interesting to a group of like-minded people When I mentioned on someone else's thread that I'd been reading a doll's house magazine I thought they would think me potty at my age but no, it took over the thread(I apologized) and there was 80 odd replies, another time in passing I mentioned that when I dreamed of my late Mother I was always having a row with her and a member, Linda who I don't know from Adam answered and I have happy dreams now. But when I asked if anyone was interested in knitting machines no one answered, so I'v e decided it's swings and round-a-bouts, if I'm interested I add to if not I don't and I think that goes for the majority and I don't know if there are cliques or not, I think it's just people whe have got to know each other on here and tend to "talk" to each other more than to folk in general. Hang on in there there are a very lot of good and nice people on here, just shout a bit louder!! love and hugs, May.

Jacky I try always to answer where there is a problem for the person who posted the thread.
If I have let you down I'm very sorry, it would not have been deliberate.

Some people yesterday were complaining of threads being brought up to page one all the time.... and that is often the reason you mat not be answered.... if it goes off page one, it will not be seen by the members coming on later in the day.
I may PM you Jacky, son needs the computer just now.

I dont put up many threads for the simple reason that I find plenty of topics on here far more interesting than anything I've got to say. However, I contribute to plenty, IF they interest me.

I enjoy the quiz and games threads, and the more serious threads/debates on current news topics.

I stay away from threads which appear to want to cause a stir, and those threads between 2 or 3 people who are sharing a private joke or topic between themselves - then it can be difficult to join in (from experience I have found I've been totally ignored on those) so I feel more comfortable not going on them. Quite honestly I feel those threads belong on Chat, but that's just my opinion....so don't shoot me down in flames !!!

The point is that we don't all like the same things. What interests me might make the next guy want to die of boredom, so try not to take it personally when your thread isn't answered.
Remember also, that a lot can depend on who is around at the time of day.....I have put up threads which have attracted very little response, and they drop, only to be revived later when a different crowd is on. Another person can put a thread up about having a cup of coffee and 100 people answer in the first 5 minutes!!!

Don't despair, it happens to us all that our threads can drop dead.....please don't take it personally.

K x

P.S. AAAAaaaaaaaachoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.P.S. I also seem to have an uncanny knack of killing threads, I don't even try!!!

Good morning Jackie
I sometimes feel like you do,and I've also been a member coming up to 5 years.

We can't all like the same topics etc. but I do give support and help in anyway I can.I like the quizzes and reading fun threads.

Remember couple of years back I put on here, if certain folk sneezed they'd get a response, and they did!! ;O) so nothing's changed really.

I like to put on a movie quiz for a bit of fun and games,so if that's 'your thing'? join in.

Sally Moonchild Report 2 Apr 2008 09:37

I have seen board members who have had a great response to one thread, only have one or two replies on another........swings and roundabouts really.....

I rarely put up threads, mainly because I am not around long enough to answer any responses.....if any......lol.....and other people's threads seem far more interesting than anything I could contribute.....

I think the answer is to just join in on a thread you find interesting.......I cannot think that it could be anything personal for members to keep away from a thread.......unless that person is a know troublemaker.....or the thread can be seen to be put up to cause argument....

I have put up threads with only a couple of replies, but I put that down to them not being of interest......not to anything other than that.....

Hi, i have only been on GR boards since Easter so i guess i'm a bit of an outsider at the moment, hope people don't mind my sense of humour, but it does seem that a lot of the fun stuff happens late at night or in the early hours which i miss as we have to get up at 5.30 am.
