I would just like to add this verse that I found written on the back of a photo of my late father, by my mother in 1942, just weeks before he was killed. I've always found it strangely comforting.

Life is eternal and love is immortal,
and death is only a horizon,
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.

Giving this thread a little nudge in case it's of use to anyone, I know the verses give comfort even if they bring (healing) tears too

My friend's f.i.l. died last week - rest in peace Ray, life's work more than well done.
Remembering too my friend Lizzie whose birthday would have been yesterday and who died at the end of August 2008, taken too young.

I am so sorry for your loss, Frances, it's awful to see a loved one suffering but so sad to have to let them go. I am glad you found comfort in the lovely verses on this thread.

i have just spent a very emotional hour reading through these posts, my sister passed away on Sunday after a long suffering illness and I just felt the need for the comfort of the said posts.

I have just spent far too long reading through this thread Liz...... how the time has flown since you first set it up! Bless you for bringing it back, I have been in tears but they are healing tears, so very many thanks for your kind thoughtfulness.. Gxx

It was 18 years on the 16th May that my Mum passed yet sometimes it feels much less time since I last spoke to her.

I hope reading the verses gave you comfort Lily, enjoy your happier memories
