Hi All,

As some of you already know I had a phone call yesterday summoning me to the hospital today to see the my delightful Bowel Consultant.

He had the results of my liver biopsy which showed the secondary cancer in the liver is not from the breast or from the bowel as far as they can tell but.....drum roll.....are you ready for this cos I wasn't...a third cancer....yes folks I did say
third cancer. This blighter is called Carcinoid and is a tumour of the neuroendoctrine system which is a network of glands that produce particular hormones and send them into the bloodstream to affect the function of different organs of the body. Get that? This sod is so rare that only 1200 of us a year out of 60 million get it. Aren't I the lucky one?

On the bright side I am very 'interesting' and lots of medical men want a part of me lol (but which part I'm not sure). I have been asked if I would be willing to answer questions and take part in various blood tests for different hospitals and, of course, I agreed (after all this is my 15 minutes of fame).

I will be having another colonoscopy either next week or the week after so they can 'investigate' the cancer which showed up on the PET scan but wasn't found on the first colonoscopy and after that who the heck knows. I've given up trying to second guess what my treatment will be and so have the experts for the time being. My appointment at Barts on Monday as been cancelled due to unforeseen complications lolol.

Watch this space for what happens next:)))

Keep the faith.

Jean x.
