I'd been wanting one for ages even collecting furniture, was beginning to think I would have to have an orange box if I could find one these days, but then OH finally took the hint, think it was a confidance thing really, but I told him just what I wanted how many rooms etc., just a house, not a mansionand he surprised himself, no pattern, everything from scratch as they say. |

Hi Julie Ann, I must confess I like the house my OH made me better than the one he bought which cost £100, they can be very expensive, when we go to fairs there are some which cost over a thousand, need to take out a mortgage!! your little one will appreciate it more if Grandad made it especially for her I'm sure. |

Congratulations on your new house Sandra, it is really good fun, have had my first about five years now in the Victorian/Edwardian style, more or less finished but for the drapes and of course the long awaited scullery. I have all the equipment, just need the building . OH made this one for me and I had been collecting furniture for five years before, having people give me money for birthdays and Christmas and I have done soft furnishings myself, also the decorations and lighting. OH bought me another house two Christmases ago and it is traditional Victorian on the outside but I am doing it relatively modern on the inside. We go to the dolls house fairs within a reasonable distance and find these cheaper than the specialist shops, also Sue Ryder shops are very good. |

I bought a Victorian dolls house a year ago and it has taken over my life. At the moment I am making dresses to hang in the wardrobe. Just before Christmas I came across a shop that was selling items at half price due to retiring, I was able to build my 'parlour' furniture up quite a lot. On my trips tp town I always carry a list of items I need for my projects just in case I see a bargain somewhere!! |

Well, it's March again tomorrow and I have been waiting twelve months for my Victorian dolls house scullery/ wash-house. Having said that OH has been not well this past year so maybe this year will be my lucky year. He knows I'm still waiting and even took me 75 miles each way to The Dolls House Emporium in Riipley, Derbyshire last Sunday. Had a good day and didn't spend a fortune, all I went for really was a Victorian what-not and I got one and a few other bits and bobs. hope to get some silk curtains made this week. |

I have acquired 3 in the past 3 years! Daughter finished Uni and she and her boyfriend were living between me and his parents - with most of their stuff at my house!! I love decorating, but it was impossible with those two around, so I bought a second hand dolls house to do up. Didn't do much to it - it is 1950's style and not too appealing, my grand daughter plays with it. |

I use to make curtains for a dolls house shop and they use to sell them on in the end I had to stop as it was taking up every spare min that I had so I only do them when people ask.I did buy a really cheap 4 poster bed spayed it black and dressed it using silks giving it an oriental style in all it cost me about £13 and it was sold for £45. I buy fabric on a A4 sheet which you print on using your pc I scanned in a sheet of wall paper so I had matching fabric for a blind |
