Hi

The 1st choice only admits 180 children. They had 1200 applications. 6 children selected from each school Its about 4 miles away.

2nd choice is about 2 miles away

3rd is the nearest and roughest one!

And yeah im annoyed especially some kids at school have gone in the 1st choice place.

Will look up thread about appeals.

Oh Clare, you must be annoyed. Definitely appeal it, are the other two schools nearer? There's a thread about appeals so check that out. I hope you can get something sorted.

Received letter today.

Very disappointing! My son got a place at his 3rd preferred school!

The academy was oversubribed!

Im certainly going to appeal against this! As this school is really run down..... squashed gum over the floor..... under tables etc. Deffo dont want him to go there... or even my son not happy about it too!

I'm pleased too as my son got my first choice too!

I have appealed twice in the past due to moving a couple of times to the North and have won on both occasions. I don't claim to be an expert but if anyone needs any tips etc please PM me.

am glad he's ok about it, thats half the battle.

Those blazers were awful almost as bad as that stupid kilt I had to wear.

Try M&S for adjusting trousers, they often do a 3 for 2 offer just before and during summer hols.

Shelli...that sounds like my kind of thing with the wonderweb...I have to do that now with his trousers as at the mo he is in 11-12 and thats border lining it...Had a chat earlier and he is pleased with that school..and my cousin phoned and we were talking, and theres me looking at a Green balloon and yes i do remember them Green Blazers lol

didn't sew badges on they came with wonder web already on the back pmsl!!!
And as A is tall and slim do try and get trouser that adjust at the waist makes life SO much easier.

Where i live there are 3 primary schools and no secondary, they have over the last few years built a new housing estate of about 400 house at the mo.and what we were wondering was would there be enough places for our children that are leaving school this year

The situation with them building the new Academy here (that no one wants) will leave approximately 500 children without a secondary school and boost the capacity of two others to over flowing.

The new academy has 900 less places than the three schools their knocking down. Progress? I think not!

Glad you managed to get a school of your choice. I know when we were living nearer you, a lot of children were left with no secondary school at all.
I also had a giggle at the size of the school uniform, my daughter was 5'3" when she transfered & has still managed to outgrown 2 entire uniforms in the last 3 years!

I've just had a laugh at all the comments about buying uniform! Mine both had uniforms to grow into when they started at secondary - or so I thought!!! By the end of the second term they had both had massive growing spurts and needed new ones!

Shelli, I do know what you mean. Our schools specify the jumpers and even the trousers now have to be bought with certain logos on and of course only one shop in town carries them. They're also dictating the shirt or blouse that can now be worn...it's ridiculous. It makes me annoyed to see the girls these days with their knickers practically showing. We'd never have got away with it and I'm only talking about 18 years ago. We fought for the right for girls to wear trousers in our school and they implemented it the year we left, so to see our hard work being ignored... LOL. I think it's the one reason that if I had children myself, I would find the money or the sponsorship from somewhere to send them to the local private school where the skirts must be a certain length. Well, results count too, of course ;-) but I've never heard of one of the girls from there getting pregnant (the outfits are far too unflattering ;-) )
