In the Settings Manager box click on the right hand tab - it looks like a folder.
In the small window below there will be a list of websites. Just above there is a button marked "Delete all sites". It is quite safe to click on this and you are done.
Once you have done everything reboot the computer and see what happens - it may solve the problem but we may well need to do more.

Java is a programming language.
JavaScript is a scripting language (not to be confused with Java) which amongst other things does clever things on websites - it is usually seen as a little bit of code embedded in the html.
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the main language used for writing web pages.
ActiveX controls are, if you like, small programmes which are very often implemented within Internet Explorer to perform a specific function such as the Google toolbar.

Puss first off let's just clean your machine down a bit because it isn't your anti-virus software that says you are infected but this rogue.
Click on Tools and then Internet Options (I prefer to actually close Internet Explorer and access Internet Options through Control Panel on the Start menu). On the General tab delete temporary internet files, cookies and history.
Next clean out your Flash cache by going to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html
Now check your internet Add-ons as described above and disable anything that looks dodgy - you can always re-enable it if you have problems.
Now reboot your computer and see if it makes a diference.

Cheers Steve - I thought that was probably what she meant.
I should have said in my above post that BHOs are often known as Add-ons - many people will have heard of ActiveX

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 14 Feb 2008 10:33

Incidentally BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) are not spyware. Many BHOs are helpful and include such add-ons as the Google toolbar. Some spyware is a BHO which will, for example, be a keylogger or redirect your browser.
Puss if you click on Tools in Internet Explorer (menu at the top of your browser) there will be an option to Manage Add-ons. This may give you an indication of what is happening

eRRolSheep Report 14 Feb 2008 10:16

I was just trying to narrow it down a bit.
In other words, is there definitely a trojan (people have started to use the term for just about any nasty recently)?

Hi Puss, Hi Errol :)

I have sent some instructions via message to see if it clears the No Name, , it is quite possible that you have brought up a remanent stored in sytem restore of the site trojans we had. If system restore was not switched off at the time a person contracts a virus, trojan etc and a scan was carried out, scanners cannot get into restore. Hence they come back at a later time :( A remanent )

I will leave you to decide how you want to go about doing things for now as I have to go into town.

Its good to see Errol here :)

Colin :):)
