Steve & Errol, I think were right a Hijack This log will hopefully pin point whats happening.

I will message Puss in a moment see if we can get one done to take a look at.

I feel like a spectator at a cricket match, lol..... not sure what the heck is going on, but the menfolk seem to, which is very comforting, lol!!!

Colin i think a HJT may be the best way to sort this, at least it will give us a clue to whats going on and its easy to install and get a log report

It's not a pain at all.
The thing that says you are infected is actually a piece of malware (a nasty) itself. If you click on it, at best it will try to persuade you to pay for a piece of software you neither need nor want and at worst it will open the door to a host of nasties.

Sorry I had to rush off

Heres what I did initially.

Because Trojan was first mentioned I did the following :I

t looks as though you may have a bit of a spyware/ trojan that has stored itself in the Restore.

We will need to do a temporary switch off of restore itself to get at it though.

To do this you will need to do the following :

Method 2: Manual steps to turn off or turn on System Restore
Steps to turn off System Restore
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
3. Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click to select the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.
4. Click OK.
5. When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm that you want to turn off System Restore:
You have chosen to turn off System Restore. If you continue, all existing restore points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer.

Do you want to turn off System Restore?
After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes.


you will need to run some scans :when it is turned off.

The virus scanner you have, should be fully updated to the latest, then scan with it, see if it finds it and then delete.

Delete anything it finds

Hopefully this should clear things for you.

Once you have done that then turn back on restore and make a new restore point
you do this by doing the following

Steps to turn on System Restore
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
3. Click to clear the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.
4. Click OK.

After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes.


Failing this and still getting the pop up/s I would have opted for a Cool Web Search

Trend Micro probably for the checks and

Using CW Shredder to see if it cleared it out .

Following a Hijack This log if possible.

Didnt want to scare Puss with the Hijack this logs etc.

why is it saying your files was infected , ive even tried a vclean by gris thingy, please let me know if this is a pain for you , whilst i really appreciate your help i understand you mayby busy xxx

Hi Errol... Puss is having some lunch and resting her hands a bit... she'll be back soon... I'll text her with that... it is taking her ages to get around the net at the mo, her screen keeps freezing. Meanwhile, she is switching off and will reboot to see if it makes a difference.

That is the latest version.
On the Settings Manager page just try a refresh - I don't think it will make a difference but it is always worth a try.

That's entirely her choice, Daff, although it would be better to do that at a later stage once we have identified and isolated the current problem.
Has she done everything and rebooted the computer?
