I must admit i have a sick sence of humour and i really had a good laugh with your BOGOF offer earlier in the day. I'm sat here thinking what other name I would use other than my own.

Dianne Report 1 Feb 2008 21:32

Talking of BOGOFs our son was baptised at the same time as we were married. One of the reasons was that we had such a massive buffet laid on it would be a massive expense to do it all again. Another reason was that seeing as how people were coming such long distances we didn't want to make them have to travel twice. So yes, a BOGOF might have been a reasonable assumption !!

And by the way Laptop Dancer - welcome to this board. I join the gang in being with you all the way

BUT

I don't do H----Work.

no one who looks like Pamela Anderson would be called Edna!

I do like that BOGOF bit - right up my street

A thought Edna - perhaps you were transported to Oz for something and that's why you can't find yourself?

Hmm... well LD I can't imagine anyone lying about 42, if you were older then you'd say you were younger than 42 for sure. Well I would lol. Point in case, my grandad who was at least 44 became 38 on his marriage cert...incidently he may actually have been 57, and therefore could have said 42 but chose to go with 38.

*nods sagely* as for the rest... who knows lol, but then I look like Pamela Anderson with out the need for the op!

Oh... maybe I was Edna Prince and I married someone called "Wood" that would make me Edna Prince-Wood. Goes back to ancestry! pmsl

LD

LD Report 1 Feb 2008 21:26

Maggie I agree, I have an ancestor that got baptised into the church the same day as her granddaughter.

~Summer Scribe~ Report 1 Feb 2008 21:25

lmao LD. One in my family did that... well I thought they were my family until Monday when the certs arrived and I found out they weren't but you get the point. I would have laughed at it if it was ancestors... not so funny if it's recent but how can you be offended if it was over 100years ago

BTW I'm disappointed that poor Edna doesn't exist...she says I can have her cheesecake :-)

Phil, how old are you, are you single and are you good looking lol... all vital attributes for a laptop dancer...

no really they are

totally agree its unacceptable. this hobby is supposed to be fun and shouldn't be ruined by people like that. i'm sure it was meant to lighten the mood anyway.

mm the lure of malteesers is just too much. am off to watch a chick flick and gorge on choc. :)

enjoy the cheesecake.

Not such a flippant answer as you may imagine.
If the family have to hire the church for Grandad's burial, they may as well get the baby baprised at the same time. The church is hired, the vicars there and the relatives have taken a day off work etc!!

LD

LD Report 1 Feb 2008 21:20

still smiling, just checked on that, had forgotten about that post, and for the benefit of others, here is approx how it went.
margaret posted a thread asking if it was uncommon for a family to have a baptism and burial on same day.
I replied that perhaps the church had a BOGOF offer !
She obviously took offence to that. But her response is still unacceptable.
