Hello again Mike,

If you have time next time you go to the records office could you have a look foe the following please?

Matthew Tansey born 1842 in Stoney Stanton, was living in Leicester with his family in 1891, when he died in 1896 he died in The Workhouse Leicester. Would you be able to see if they hold the records for the workhouse there please?

Any help would be great,

Hello again Mike

Thank you for the info for the 1841 census, now I see why I missed it, Sanby has been mistranscribed so many times!!

I notice that it says Samuel and Rebecca were not born in Rutland. In the 1851 census Rebecca is listed as born in Lincolnshire so it looks like Samuel could be from there as well.

I can't find the death registrations for Samuel or Rebecca in the partial records so hope to find them in the complete indexes.

Could you explain something for me. When you gave me all the info on Samuel's children you put -

BAPTISMS
With Parents William & Rebecca Sanby.
Samuel a Farmer in Casterton :~

I am probably being dim but who is William?

Thank you again for all your time and help

...thanks Mike.... reason is I still do not have the origins of b1781 Thomas, so any clue is big one, e.g. although a frame work knitter, could be a brother, even a cousin. Why would Thomas and Lydia be in L'boro' at the same time, blah, blah!

....and Laton, is that really a name?, needs looking at methinks.

Greeting’s again English Bob…..

Entry No. 1924.
Reads thus :~

June. 9th.

Eliza Daughter of
Born July. 10th.1819.

Laton & Sophia
COOKES. ? ( Although it doesn’t come up on the I.G.I Batch No’s site )

Loughborough.
Frame Work Knitter.
Rev’d D Clemetson.

Do not think this is your Family
If only because of the Father’s occupation
That of a Frame Work Knitter
It’s not so exciting as Coachman …..

I can but have another look at the original again next week
It’s so much clearer on the fiche reader not so many scratches.
