Samuels death between 1st. October. ~ 27th. November. 1850.

Allow me to now check Ketton’s Burial Registers 1st.
at Leicestershire Records Office.
Then maybe we can enlist the help of the Lincolnshire Records Office…….
But at a price :0(((( …

UPDATE. ....

Laxton to Ketton = 8.2 Miles.
Quadring to Ketton. = 28.2 Miles

I could make out the names John and Joseph Sewell but would not have remembered Mary Sewell being a witness to the wedding.

Do you think it would be better to contact Lincolnshire records office or just get the death cert from the GRO like I usually do. Would I get any other info from the Records office.

Well back to the day job I suppose, no hidden fortune yet, just have to keep trying!!!

Samuel & Rebecca dwelling place KETTON in the County of Rutland.

Appointment of Executors. To act on Samuels behalf. …….

John Sewell Farmer of LAXTON in the County of Northamptonshire.
Joseph Sewell. Farmer of QUADRING in the County of Lincolnshire.
( Mary Sewell was one of the Wit's at Samuels second Marrage )

Should Rebecca out live Samuel…..Then she gets free of any taxes all the household goods. Furniture. Plate, Linen, to use & benefit for life.

£5. to be given to my Sons Samuel & William.

To give to my four Daughters Mary Ann, Frances Elizabeth, Elizabeth Sarah
And Susannah. The said same amount to be paid in to their own accounts free of any taxes.

John & Joseph Sewell ( executors ) to sell the Ketton dwelling house & Tithes
And collect any monies owing to my estate.1st. Paid off expenses for my funeral.
The balance to be shared to an agreeable proportion between members of my family……
This Will supersedes any other Last Will & Testaments made by me.

I will ask my Solicitor friend this week to explain the legal wording appertaining to the Dwelling place and some other things…….

So it looks like the finial resting place for Samuel could be Ketton
For which I don’t have the burials on any of my disks….:(((

Thank you for searching through the burial registers for me, sorry there were so many.

Have just managed to get the will of Samuel Sanby but boy is it difficult to read. Have just about managed to make out that it says he was of Stamford in the county of Lincoln and that his wife Rebecca is still alive. He made the will on 21/10/1850.

It is going to take me a long time to work out what the rest says!!! I'm going cross eyed already.

I'll let you know how I get on, thank you again for your help.

I did start having a look at Parish Burial Registers for the NINE
Villages which came within the Rutland District which were close to Stamford
held at the Records Office but most of then the records stop at 1812……:0((((

But the Village of Ryhall which is only 2.8 miles from Stamford
And only 2.9 miles from Great Casterton the records go up to 1867.

So will explore them next time I’m there.

But I have a feeling we will have to get in touch with Lincolnshire Records Office :~

Sorry for the nightmare Mike!!

I got the same baptism details as you from the familysearch site.

The death details for Samuel Sandby are 1850 Q4 Vol 14 Page 390.

I couldn't find it initially but on a whim I looked for Samuel in the National Archives and found one reference for him - Will of Samuel Sanby Yeoman Stamford, Lincolnshire 1850. This made me check the full death reg and I found him. Going to send for the will as soon as I can. Still can't find his wife Rebecca but some of the pages are missing where the Sanby name would be.

I thought I may be on the right track when I looked at the map and saw that Stamford town was very close to Bridge Casterton but didn't think of the district of Stamford!

Having looked at the 1901. Census returns for RG 13.2991. / 43. / Page. 17.
( Census night was Monday 1st. April.1901. )

I see that it has Elizabeth D. Pearce as 17 Months old ( c1899 ) b Leicester.
Minnie Pearce Dau. 2. b BELGRAVE. Leicester.
There was a Helen Pearce. Dau. 6. b Belgrave. Leicester.

But on the G.R.O. birth Index records site Elizabeth Daisy’s birth was registered April ~ March ~ May Quarter 1901.
Elizabeth Daisy Pearce Leicester. Cert No. 7a. 186.

And Jan. Feb. Mar. Qrt. 1899.
Minnie Pearce. Leicester, cert No. 7a.172.

I did not find Helen’s record …sorry.

If you have not already got the Birth Certificates of either Elizabeth Daisy or Minnie
Then is may be the starting point……. as along the top of these Certificates should be the Parish the Birth took place in. ……..

St. Peter's Parish Church. in the Village of Belgrave.
St. Michael's and All Angels. ( Melton Road. )
St. Lukes. ( Belgrave Road. )

The Town Stamford is a very grey area….
North is in Lincolnshire
Parts of North and West are in Rutland.
South is in Northamptonshire / Cambridge.
East is Cambridgeshire. ( Peterborough )

So you can see it can be a nightmare…!!!!…

Is this the same as you came up with. ?

Can you give me the details ( Ref. No’s & year ) of this find

From this I’ll be able to Identify the area to look at……

Don’t forget…. Although it stated Stamford it may not be the TOWN of Stamford it’s self but a Village which is in the DISTRICT of Stamford.

Had a look at all standing gravestones when small cub was singing in school choir concert - didn't find any Butlers!!

No info re: 20th yet - reminds me - 20th is 29th Wedding Anniversary, LONG time!!

NE does allow trying on of uniform so should be OK - always adopt Mum's philosophy - buy plenty big to grow into and get money's worth!!

Have you tried to open it up in “Window Picture Fax Viewer” file format?
You can zoom in via the wheel on your mouse.

I can make out some of them but NO Butlers…….
I believe these Headstones were used to line the outside walls around the Cathedral Plus also to line the main path from Peacock Lane to the South Door.

In fact these are in there somewhere :~

I don’t know whether you can help me with this one. I have been looking for the baptisms of my great grandparents and their siblings for a few months now and am having no joy. I’ve looked at St Matthews and St Marks so far.

The children of Joseph & Minnie Pearce between 1894 – 1910. They moved from London to Belgrave, Leicester about 1894. When my great grandmother Elizabeth Daisy Pearce was born in 1901 they lived on Bardolph Street and by about 1905 lived on Syston Street.

The children of William & Florence Tansey between 1902 – 1926. When my great grandfather William Tansey was born in 1902, they lived on Curzon Street and later moved to Taylor Street. William Sr. originally came from Stoney Stanton, but I’ve ruled this out.

If you could offer any help or advice on where to look next, I would be very grateful,

Can you help me with my Sanby family again please. Can you look at the burial records for Rutland so I can see how many Sanbys are buried there.

I am pretty sure that I have found that Samuel Sanby Sr was born in Spalding Lincolnshire and that he died in Stamford Lincs which is right on the boarder with Rutland. I think I am getting confused with all the going back and forth from Lincolnshire to Rutland. I would like to find out who in the family stayed in Rutland and who didn't.

Hope this makes sense.
