Greeting’s again English Bob…..
Entry No. 1924. Reads thus :~
June. 9th.
Eliza Daughter of Born July. 10th.1819.
Laton & Sophia COOKES. ? ( Although it doesn’t come up on the I.G.I Batch No’s site )
Loughborough. Frame Work Knitter. Rev’d D Clemetson.
Do not think this is your Family If only because of the Father’s occupation That of a Frame Work Knitter It’s not so exciting as Coachman …..
I can but have another look at the original again next week It’s so much clearer on the fiche reader not so many scratches.

...thanks Mike.... reason is I still do not have the origins of b1781 Thomas, so any clue is big one, e.g. although a frame work knitter, could be a brother, even a cousin. Why would Thomas and Lydia be in L'boro' at the same time, blah, blah!
....and Laton, is that really a name?, needs looking at methinks.

Hello again Mike
Thank you for the info for the 1841 census, now I see why I missed it, Sanby has been mistranscribed so many times!!
I notice that it says Samuel and Rebecca were not born in Rutland. In the 1851 census Rebecca is listed as born in Lincolnshire so it looks like Samuel could be from there as well.
I can't find the death registrations for Samuel or Rebecca in the partial records so hope to find them in the complete indexes.
Could you explain something for me. When you gave me all the info on Samuel's children you put -
BAPTISMS With Parents William & Rebecca Sanby. Samuel a Farmer in Casterton :~
I am probably being dim but who is William?
Thank you again for all your time and help Caroline xx

Greeting’s William…..
In answer to your problem of Parentage of one Robert Hartshorn c 1802. Plus a link of Hartshorn Family of Leicester to Hartshorn families of Thurmaston.
I had a look at the original Baptism registers for St. Michaels Thurmaston.
Fiche No. DE 1256. / 2.
Reads thus :~
BAPTISMS ANNO DOMINI 1802.
22.nd.August…………Robert Son of Richard & DOROTHY Hartshorn. H. Woodcock. Curate. Definitely not DORATHY….. But as you stated it could have been a case of not hearing the Mother’s name clearly ( Deborah ) or the Parish Clark could not make out the name from the Ministers notes.?
Other Baptisms found with Parents Richard & Deborah Hartshorn.:~
1795. 12th. April…………….Ann. 1796. 4th. December. …Mary. 1802. 22.nd.August…….. ROBERT. 1805..12th. April…………..Sarah. 1807. 7th. June……………..William. 1808. 22nd. October…...Rebecca. 1810. 24th. October…….Elizabeth.
Fiche No. DE 1256./ 8.
MARRIAGE ANNO DOMINI. :~ 1794.
Entry No. 96.
Richard Hartshorn. Of the South end of Thurmaston. The Parish of Belgrave.
Deborah GRAVES. Of the same Parish. Married in this Chapel by Banns. By Me.:~ Samuel Woodford. Curate.
This Seventh Day of July. One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Four.
Richard signed the register by own signature. Deborah by her Mark = X In the Presence of :~ Mary Hartshorn ? T. Owing ( Parish Clark )
So there is your Linking of Thurmaston & Belgrave Leicester.
Hope this helps you.

Hi again Mike,
Do you happen to have any burial indexes for Loughborough?
I am looking for the burials of the following in Loughborough, although it is possible the Kitchen family eventually came to Leicester.
Henry Maples Kitchen born 1872 Selina/Selena Kitchen born abt 1866 Any Kitchen children who were born between 1891 - 1910
Any Tilley children born between 1882 and died before 1901
Also I don’t know whether you could help with the following:
The marriage of Henry Maples Kitchen and Selina (unknown maiden name).
In 1891 Henry is living with his parents in Nottingham, by 1901 he is in Leicester with a “wife” called Selina and a 3 year old child Agnes. I have Agnes’ birth certificate and it says her mother’s maiden name is Burchnall, but I can not find her on any census (other that a possibility in 1871) apart from 1901 or a marriage between herself and Henry.
I was thinking that they might have got married some time after 1901 in Leicestershire.
If you could help or even give me some advice on where to look next, I would be very grateful.
Thanks
Vicky X
