Hi - I've just been tracing the family right back from the 1851 onwards and I agree with all those above. |

On the 1871 census he shows Amelia as spouse although they didn't get wed until the following year. Did he marry Emily Constance Plummer when he still had a wife in Lymington just saying he was a widower? |

but if i have the marriage for charles and emily in london in 1885 surely that can't be him. i must have it wrong somewhere. surely it can't be the same person. i know sydney's date of birth and his cert with mother as emily. oh dear this is not my day. thank you. :) |

ok well thank you michael, i didn't realise it was that close to southampton. i found afew marriages for charles in southampton just thought i had better check before i ordered. i have looked for a death for amelia on freebmd and can't find one before 1885 when he re-married which is why i had counted them out. thanks for looking. |

i'm not sure. where's pennigton? perhaps if it's anywhere near southampton it could be. that's the one gwyn found. i suppose if it's the only one about the right age it's possible. although she is an awful lot older than him- isn't that a rather large age gap? |

i have his birth certificate son on Henry Gannaway and Mary Ann formaly Bishop. he was born Southampton 1850. i'm convinced i have the right certificate. thanks for looking anyway. just thought i would try my luck i have emily and the children in 91 in Hackney but there is no Charles with them. he never seemed to be around at census time. thanks for looking though.x |

Do you know for certain that Charles was the son of Henry and Mary Ann? |
