I've just checked with outlaws he was born at 38 Downing St 1901 and had an older brother stan possibly.

So the rd must have been called that. Its a mystery why the rd dosent show in Census when it shows on Birth Cert.

Thank you everyone for your help. I am still confused but appreciate all of your help none the less :)

If the pub was on London Rd Its possible they could have renamed Downing Street London Rd for a while because of the connection.

Have you tried looking in 1901 for near neighbours from 1891?...I've sometimes found folk that way.
I have some people not indexed...even wrongly...in 1901 but they are there if I trawl through.

Any chance the street could have been renamed for a while?...just thinking of London and Downing connection.
We have set out to look for addresses and realise that the enumerator must have got it wrong.
eg. one family were at a property in Wales numbered 15 on the 1901 census. People in the village said there never was a 15 , ...but from checking we found that number 28, which was the address we had expected to find them...was the 15th house along.

Frederick Merrett was living at White lion Inn, Patrick Rd.

Deb:)

I just googled the White Lion Inn and it doesn't help any. The pub still exists but it's not on Downing Street..............it's a lovely pub though!

It could have been named something else in 1901. It doesn't seem to show up in 1891 either.

I did a street look-up a few days ago for a lady and the street was named one thing in one census and something else in the next. It was the same street though.

Hi I am trying to find who was in a house in Downing Street in Chippenham Wiltshire under the name of Merrett on the 1901 Census but I cant find the street. At least one of the occupants was called Frederick William Merrett.

It was there in the 1890 and they still lived there till mid 1900's but the rd cant be found. Any Tips ....
