Looks like it was more guesswork and assumption than actual knowledge - still can't understand how finding my son - who is registered as Living (married name) leads one to find me - registered as Living (maiden name) - both quite common names so there are LOTS to search through, but obviously it can be done!! I can't test it out as when I search, the great genes machine doesn't show me people in my tree!! |

When you choose the 'Living Relation' option, YOUR name and details are still shown, although everyone for around the last 120 years is hidden. It should be easy to track down your marriage in the BMD for your County, particularly if you have an uncommon name. |

If they are not related to you, could they be related to someone in your tree? They could have done their own independent research. Anyone can find out who anyone married so to speak. |

Is it possible that being related to you they've come across you in their own tree and so had done the research independantly? ie, by looking at BMDs? |
