There is also another possibility with regard to her father's occupation. Many men who lived along the banks of the Thames were involved with the shipping and therefore in reserve occupations. It was preferred that these men didnot enlist but stayed in there jobs because the shipping was vital. My father worked for the Port of London Authority and had to stay in his job. Just another thought.

I wonder if Patricia was born at Woolwich because her father was based at the barracks there?

What a sad little story, but so I am gripped by it. How terrible for little Patricia and her family, but spare a thought for the poor little girl that was with her. How terrified she must have been?! Shirls

Her death certificate will give information about her parents at the time of death.

Hi, Paul, FindMyPast has overseas BMDs - things like army family births, war deaths etc. I couldn't find it on Ancestry just now, but it may be that I wasn't looking in the right place? I've not had any luck with the units. (Update, crossed with yours) My heart goes out to Henrietta.
