Update from Woolwich The marriage certificates (I’ve ordered both Hetty’s marriages) are going to take a few days – hopefully by Wed/Thursday, Woolwich or Greenwich as they are now, record marriages by church location or reg office and as I don’t know the exact church or reg office – It’s going to involve a search through each register - I’ve tried to narrow it down and given them a list of which I feel are more likely than others. Hi, I managed to pick up Patricia's death certificate today. The details taken from it are as follows. I omit the full details as to cause of death as the accident was quite horrific. Registration District, East Glamorgan Death in the Sub-district of Caerphilly in the County of Glamorgan No 499 1. When and where died. 23 May 1943 at the level crossing near Gelynis Farm, Morganstown, Radyr, RD 2. Name and Surname - Patricia Armstrong 3. Sex- Female 4. Age - 9 years 5. Occupation. of 9 Engineer Road, Woolwich, London. Daughter of William Armstrong 6. Cause of death. Struck by a passing train at a level crossing whilst on an errand. - accident- 7. Signature,description and residence of informant. Certificate received from David Rees Coroner for East Glamorgan. Inquest held 24 May 1943 8 When registered. 29 May 1943 9 Signature of registrar. Is anyone able to visit the Newcastle on Tyne town hall to access the parish records (should be free to view on microfilm) for Henrietta's birth entry, now we've confirmed it was 1908 Her mother's maiden name will help determine if Henrietta had any siblings that can be tracked if she was an older child; alternatively if she was a younger child it should be possible to find her parents and siblings in the 1901 census. There are so many William Armstrongs I dont think it would be possible to track his family connections (but please prove me wrong !!) Well done everyone who is participating in and contributing to this quest. Paul, you should feel very proud, I think this is a wonderful thing you've started. c xx

Hi Folks, Checked on Ancestry for birth index of Henrietta Maud Wilson. Birth Index is 10b 62 in 1908 in Newcastle T and she was born in the 2nd Q. However there is no mothers maiden name. Dont think they started to add mothers maiden name untill 1911. Paul I have been on the website for Patricia and its brilliant, no probs getting on with either web address, thanks to you and Rachael for all your hard work and to everyone else who has helped. Hi Chris, Henrietta's birth entry was confirmed on a previous page. mothers maiden names were not included in the BMD Index until Sep Q 1911 c x

Has anyone explored the possibility that both Patricia's parents came from Newcastle? Maybe It was William's job that brought them down to London where they married. Is there any value in approaching Transport for London to acquire details of George Francis's employment record as a bus conductor? Is this likely to give us anything useful?

Hi, have been following this fascinating tale from the begining, but missed the last few posts. So didn't realise you definatley needed anything from Newcastle. I am just 9 miles from Newcastle, so count me in from now on, I am happy to help in anyway I can. There are many Armstrong's and Wilson's in the Northumberland area. I have actually done a few family trees for folks tracing the Armstrongs. Fingers crossed that they came from the North Tyneside area. We have an excellant Local Studies Department in North Shields Library, which is just 10 minutes away. Keep up the good work folks. Jenny.
