Mike. The Leicester Lad.(GC) Report 3 Sep 2007 01:17

Greeting’s Again Tracey……

No Alice Wright Burials in Welford Road up to 1950………
Will check out other Parishes around at the time.

Shame You did not ask last week I had the original Workhouse
Admission & Discharge Book 1901 onwards
But can always reorder it out again at the Records Office
This might give us some clues as too her condition on admission.
And why she left the Workhouse.

I see Alice maiden name was RIVETT
I have traced both Families back till 1861.

Seems the rot might have set in 1871 ~ 81.
when William took over the Farm in Fring.
Plus why was Charles a retired Farmer aged just 36 in 1891. ?

Time to blow out the candle me thinks ...<3 II ~

Hi Mike

I know it says Hants but it is definitely Norfolk, I have been to the village and seen family graves etc.. I was hoping a burial might show up in Leicester but I suppose they could have gone back to Norfolk, having said that there must have been a fall-out otherwise why is mum in the workhouse and not living with daughter and her uncle??

Any help much appreciated

*** F.A.O.*** Jon O’ Kent.

I will try and find Baptism details for your Joseph
But have a feeling that due to Joseph being only three days old.
When buried I doubt if there was time to Baptise him.
Taking in to account that those dates covered the Whitsun Holiday time.

It would have to be a Private Baptism by either the Priest or Midwife.
Which just might be in the Registers.

This would explain why Joseph was buried in Non consecrated ground.
( Not being Baptised )

Along with 40 other Still born or had not reached one year old.
Including a still born with the same surname as my self.

But I will try to find Joseph……
Have you tried ordering Joseph's birth cert.

Hello Mike, I am still monitoring your threads, just in case I spot one of your customers that may have a link for my Cooke’s. I believe I can comment that you seem to have increased your stock of research CD’s.

So nearly two years on I’m going to beg of you to take another look for the infamous Thomas Cooke, yes the one who states he was born Loughborough 1824 in three census 1851,61,71. I still haven’t been able to find this birth in PR’s.

You may remember that I have him married to Eleanor Stoppard in 1846 and his father was a Thomas also and is given as a Coachman on the marriage certificate. I have everything going forward, much of which was your help, but can’t get back without a birth for him or a marriage for his father. The Loughborough connection is my only lead.

I did spend a year tracing a Thomas Cooke born Rempstone to a Thomas, an innkeeper. PR’s certs the whole shebang! But this family turned out to be a parallel life....damn.

Please no panic and don’t batter your brains but for a re-appraisal look I would be grateful success or not.

Best ever regards, keep up the good work, I’ll keep reading.

Bob in Pompey .

P.S My tree is now on tribalpages, if you think it useful I can PM you the user name & password, you may even be impressed!

I need the last piece of the equation in order to pin point the right people

Can you state the years of birth of both the Mary Alice Wright’s.
Plus…… If possible the place of birth for both of them . ?

Or can you state the Ref No’s for the 1901. censuses returns

Thanks in anticipation.

***F.A.O.*** Linda

Greeting’s again Linda.

I don’t want you to think I had forgotten your latest query
Thomas, Father to Ann Bond who married Thomas Gent.

I did recheck the Parish Registers again this week
And sort the second opinion of someone from the Records Office
As to the surname of Ann’s Father on the Marriage Registers.

They seem to think it is NOT Jaques but could well be Joynes.
The tail of the Y was going the other way which made me think it was a Q
Or could be Joines or Joiners.
Difficult when your looking at hand writing and Signatures

At the moment I’m trawling through the Census returns using the New surnames......
.
Depending on the results I find.
I then will check out Parish Baptisms at the Records Office and report back on this thread.

Mike
Require your help again please.
I have death certificate for JOSEPH TOMKINS son of 'HENRY' TOMKINS 199 Birstall St, Joseph lived for 3 days only and was buried 30th May 1883.
My query is, the census for 1881/1891 show occupant of 199 Birstall St as GEORGE HENRY TOMKINS and in 1883 had a daughter GERTRUDE could Joseph have been a son of GEORGE HENRY and a possible twin to GERTRUDE?. GEORGE HENRY later lost two other infants buried in plot T891 at Welford Rd but JOSEPH buried in plot S2908. Unless you can see the obvious answer, could you please check parish records for birth parents of JOSEPH?.
Regards

Hi All
I wondered if you could help me as you have in the past with my Gamble side of the family.
If you can remember i could not find Edward Gamble and Elizabeth Gamble (nee Goode) the parents of Job on any census but i have now located them in Coventry well Job and Edward and Edwards wife is now an Ann so i was going to ask if there was a marriage between an Edward and an Ann in the Wistow area and surrounding which would say that Edward was a widow. Thank you Donna
Sorry should of said from 1828 to 1841...which would be when Elizabeth died as Job was born 1828 and Ann was in place by 1841 ...once again thank you.
